We're set to record on the 29th (FINALLY AMIRITE?!) and in anticipation of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption--we're going to discuss this incredible franchise.

1) Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on what we should cover or would like to hear us talk about a particular subject?

2) Any questions for Tommy? Check out his Wiki here if you do not know who he is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Tallarico

3) Do you have any observations or comments about the Metroid franchise? If you do--comment here about it and if it's interesting enough we'll read it on the air.

Looking forward to it.

(Note: Tommy composed and worked on the first Metroid Prime)

Hrm, well regardless--there is no denying the large amounts of work he's done and what he's contributed to the industy. He's worked on over 300 games--that's just insane.

But, he's deffinitly got a strong personality and you arnt the first person to mention a dislike for him, but I think it's going to be interesting to have him on.

Personally, I think he's a pretty cool guy and have no problem with him.

Heh, I also can't stand the guy. There was just something about him on that old G4 show that completely unnerved me. It seems like he'd rate games lower just because he sucked at them, or something that was completely off the wall....it was never a legitimate reason. Plus he was way too talkative, which should be perfect for your podcast 🙂.

I do respect the man's musical talents, though. I can't remember any specific games, but there were a couple that his studio had worked on that I recognized.

Metroid is one franchise that really bothers me on the Wii, as it really brings up my issues with the system. From what I've seen it looks like more of the same as the first two Primes, which I'm sure is wrong, but I just can't drum up any care for Prime 3. Metroid is a game that I really think deserves the full audio/visual treatement, which in my opinion the Wii just can't deliver. I look at the original Prime and think what that type of gameplay with graphics and sound capabilities of the other "next-gen" systems would be like. Some of the music would be unbelievable fully orchestrated/instrumentalized.

I'm glad that Metroid made such an amazing transition into 3D, but I would be just as happy having a 2D one with highly stylized visuals (I look at a game like LittleBigPlanet and think that there's no reason a 2D game can't look spectacular).

Also, part of the reason why this franchise is so beloved is that up to the first Prime there were only 3 games in the series, and now within 5 years there's already 6 more (granted one is a remake). While they've all managed to still be good games, I can't help but feel that it is not a good thing.

MP3 is stunning as a total package. I'm only a few hours in, but go here if you're interested in more details.

Thanks for those comments, I think I just might bring those comments up on the show. It's an interesting point of view.

Theres no doubt that it would look even better in HD, but the designers pulled off some very impressive environments with what they had to work with. You just dont get the same experience from watching a clip on the net than you do from actually playing the game with the lights off and everything. The Wii might be limited, but these arent the dull corridors you see in most other games - everything is detailed and animated to a crazy degree.

I'm gonna disagree on the sound/music though - orchestrated music has never been a part of metroid, and the grungy electronica theyve been using has fit the game so perfectly. Theres a part later in the game where you make your first entrace into a certain new area, and the droning bass line kicks in as you open the door and sets the tone so perfectly for the isolated area you've just come upon.

Anyways, the point is, this isnt a game thats just thrown together. The sum is far more than its parts. Practically around every corner theres something sprinkled in that most other devs wouldnt have bothered with, but they really took their time here.

He seemed to hate RPGs, and wasn't smart enough for strategy games, and usually rated them low. His bias made him suck as a video game reviewer. Of course G4 sucked so who cares.

You sound like an ad or spam. So this you saying we?

What?

You sound like you are promoting something. If it isn't, and are just quoting something, put it in quotes.
I don't know who/what you are referring to.

I already answered your question yesterday. Four posts up I linked it for you. Do you still not get it?

.....and if I was quoting something--I'd put it in quotes. Thanks for the posting lesson.

I think it's pretty obvious, from my post, I'm trying to get some input from some of the people I know in these forums. If I was promoting (which I have done in the past many times) I would have done so while linking to the podcast's website. Notice that I didnt do so?

How about starting it with "Hey/Hello, this is so and so and this what I do..." then add "We're doing our 29th...".

I'll have to check at your casts when I get a chance.

It's like we are supposed to be familiar with what you are doing, and there are some idiots (me) that don't know what you are talking about.

Heeeeello Foghorn67 **TooT*TooT**! My name is Mark and I do a gaming Podcast with two other gamers. 😉 😛

I think we're being a little anal here--but I guess I can see where you're coming from. Next time I'll post some links for the curious. I guess I just figured that most people know (in the gaming forums) of the show by now and that my signature kinda spoke for itself.

Oh well.....no big deal. 🙂
