So we spell out the words we don't want him to understand
    Like T-O-Y or maybe S-U-R P-R-I-S-E
But the words we're hiding from him now
Tear the heart right out of me.

    Our D-I-V-O-R-C-E; becomes final today
Me and little J-O-E will be goin' away
I love you both and it will be pure H-E double L for me
Oh, I wish that we could stop this D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Watch him smile, he thinks it Christmas
    Or his 5th Birthday
And he thinks C-U-S-T-O-D-Y spells fun or play
I spell out all the hurtin' words
And turn my head when I speak
'Cause I can't spell away this hurt
    That's drippin' down my cheek.

    Our D-I-V-O-R-C-E; becomes final today
Me and little J-O-E will be goin' away
I love you both and it will be pure H-E double L for me
Oh, I wish that we could stop this D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Tammy Wynette gives those words such power
    :brokenheart::(

Well, they blew up the chicken man in philly last night
Now, they blew up his house, too
Down on the boardwalk theyre gettin ready for a fight
Gonna see what them racket boys can do

Now, theres trouble bustin in from outta state
And the d.a. cant get no relief
Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade
And the gamblin commissions hangin on by the skin of his teeth

Well now, evrything dies, baby, thats a fact
But maybe evrything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in atlantic city

Well, I got a job and tried to put my money away
But I got debts that no honest man can pay
So I drew what I had from the central trust
And I bought us two tickets on that coast city bus

Now, baby, evrything dies, honey, thats a fact...

Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold
But with you forever Ill stay
Were goin out where the sands turnin to gold
Put on your stockins baby, `cause the nights getting cold
And maybe evrything dies, baby, thats a fact
But maybe evrything that dies someday comes back

Now, I been lookin for a job, but its hard to find
Down here its just winners and losers and dont
Get caught on the wrong side of that line
Well, Im tired of comin out on the losin end
So, honey, last night I met this guy and Im gonna
Do a little favor for him

Well, I guess everything dies, baby, thats a fact...

It is a Tammy Wynette song that reminds me of a friends situation right now so I guess it's sorta real but it's not *my* current circumstances.

THE KING IS GONE (So Are You)

    by George Jones

Last night I broke the seal on a Jim Beam decanter
    That looks like Elvis
I soaked the label off a Flintstone Jelly Bean jar
I cleared us off a place on that one little table
    that you left us
And pulled me up a big ole piece of floor

I pulled the head off Elvis
Filled Fred up to his pelvis
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
    And so are you

'Round about 10 we all got to talking
    'Bout Graceland, Bedrock and such
The conversation finally turned to women
But they said they didn't get around too much
    Elvis said, "Find 'em young"
And Fred said "Old Fashioned girls are fun"
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
    And so are you

Later on it finally hit me
That you wouldn't be 'a comin' home no more
'Cause this time I know you won't forgive me
Like all of them other times before
    Then I broke Elvis' nose
Pouring the last drop from his toes
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
    And so are you
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
    And so are you

Do you even have any kids? Jeez, it's just a stupid song...

Don't you have a gate to guard? Cyclists to kill? :p

I did. According to my thread, I ship out to recruit training on August 21st.

No kids, but the ones that I am thinking of are the sweetest kids in the world and my heart breaks for them. :(

BTW: Can't wait to get on my guard post.

This song really brings back some scary memories. When it was out, I was a little kid, but I knew what it meant...and I was frightened to death that my parents would get one like the people in the song.

You wouldn't shoot a cyclist who is the father of a 5 year old son would you? I can't imagine his Mom raising him alone. She's good with him but he needs some discipline in his life and I'm afraid he's just not going to get enough of that if I'm not around. ;):p

BTW-My parents divorced when I was 8 years old. It really didn't have as much of an impact on me as it did my little sister. I am the oldest of 3 and we all turned out fine.

My wife's Mom has been divorced 3 times and her Dad is on his 3rd marriage as is my Mom. I think the 3rd time is the charm with them though. Such is not the case with my Dad and her Mom. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk.

Sorry to lighten this thread up though. :p:laugh:

Sorry I killed your husband...say, if you aren't doing anything this evening would you like to come down and visit me in the stockade?

Somehow I don't see that working as a good pickup line. Call it a hunch. :p

Miss Tammy Why-Not?...She had a hell of a voice in her younger years...and a tough life.
