seems cool enough to me, I hate freezing my ass off in a computer/equipment room. I have to find the hottest running bays and stand by them to try and warm up.

If it holds steady at 77.9º that doesn't sound like a problem to me. When it hits 100º+, then you might wanna start worrying. Did I mention that losing the water supply to your data center chillers sucks? :frown: Happened to us last May - some of our SAN equipment reported internal temps of 135º - and we still lose the occasional piece of hardware to mysterious unexplained causes.

My server room is at 74F right now. Hmm, maybe I should turn it down to 70F.

add new equipment? maybe your A/C tonage isnt enough anymore. we had to add our 5th A/C unit last summer because of all the new servers we added. the other 4 just couldnt handle it so we got funding and put in a 20 ton unit and man that baby pumps out the cold air. even with those 5 units our main server room is gets no cooler than 70.

Mine stays @ around 68, but thats after 2 10kBTU floor units added since the ceiling unit cant take it

That's pretty cool, but I'm assuming that's not a large-scale server operation

Cooler = better, up to a certain point of course. Same with humidity, drier = better.

I wish they would take heat as seriously in our computer labs at school. I love how when the AC breaks, temps spike to 90+. Even yesterday with the AC running, it was clearly toastier than the outside 75F that weather.com was reporting.

I've sent off multiple emails saying that this is unacceptable heat because it's not even comfortable to work at these temperatures anymore. But then again, that's because where I used to work maintained their server room at 68.
