1-28-2004 Taliban Claim Deadly Afghan Bombings

KABUL, Afghanistan - A pair of nearly simultaneous attacks, one suicide, on British and German bases near the Afghan capital Wednesday left one British soldier dead and as many as nine other foreigners wounded, police and peacekeepers said.

The attacks came during a memorial ceremony for a Canadian soldier killed in a Taliban suicide attack in Kabul just the day before.

No one has called it a "victory" -- it's called a war specifically because it's an armed struggle in which people, including ours, die. The greatest threat to our war on terror, according to Ralph Peters, is a lack of fortitude in the public for what needs to be done. I guess we can't count on you to support action to prevent a recurrence of September 11th, now can we?

Osama thanks you.

Fighting a war on terror is as stupid and pointless as fighting a war on drugs. Gotta eliminate the underlying source or root cause, fighting the effects is simply an excersize in frustration. IMO of course.

Of course if we had any friends in the arab world at all, our intelligence would be a whole lot better then it is now and we might have some success preventing major attacks like 9/11. But then again, the fact that we don't have any arab friends is probably part of the reason.... blah its a damn cycle that I don't want to think about right now.

Osama thanks Bush I am sure. Since he is attacking Iraq, that takes some of the pressure off him. Keep your bad guys straight. This is a key error of a great many pro-war people.

The greatest threat to peoples "fortitude" is unnecessary war, lies, and clueless leadership. The War on Terror is already lost.

I don't think Bush is clueless...

"unnecessary war" part is arguable.
"lies" is a problem in any war.
"clueless leadership" we already have. It's called politics.
but don't forget "no stomache for casualties." Imagine what would happen if all 500+ casualties occured in one day or even a week. And this isn't even the start of a major ground war.
The U.S. population has a widespread problem with ostrich mentalities.
