Our cellphone reception sucks in our house

Looks like no one is aware of the new Internet based personal cell towers coming out.

Basically as long as you have an Internet connection, the personal cell site radio will work.

It is about the same as 802.11G but this is cellular service.

I believe it will be about $200 for the kit.

Most markets are being installed as we speak so rollout will be this year.

Enjoy.

You will have to let me know if you find something reasonable priced that works. I am in the same sit. as you good service right outside but it drops as soon as you go indoors.

I use my cell for work so I need good reception indoors to get calls while im sleeping.

change your provider... I had 0-1 bars with Sprint... I kept getting dropped and I got fed up. I got Verizon and in the same spot (where I sit now), I get 3-4 bars.

It's not the service, we've tried switching. The house is built like a freaking nuclear bunker.
who'd you have before ? Get someone with verizon to check their phone in your house.

Apparently you guys are unaware of home amps:

Bah... My workplace has these repeater antennas installed all over the place in our office building, and it didn't do jack to improve my cell reception.

Man, I wish that Skytel offered Cell Phone service! My pager seems to work everywhere, even in the sub basement.

Yeah, I was about to say its because of your sh!tty LG phones (seriously, the ones for Sprint are full of problems).

But once again, physics takes over and Faraday is not being friendly. A repeater is really your only option. You might want to look into getting a dual band (800/1900) so that in case you decide to switch carriers again you won't have to buy new equipment.

Does your phone use the same tech as the repeater? My workplace installed repeaters for Verizon, and now those who use them have great reception, where before there was none. Those of us who use a gsm provider were sol, and told to switch.

Everything I've read about these phones is pretty good. After the V300s we had it's a god send. At least I can get reception everywhere, not like the shoddy T-Mobile infrastructure here.

So what is a good brand for repeaters/amps? Something like this?

That's not quite as bad as working in a nuclear bunker. My office is located in a hospital in the former Radiology department. Lead-lined walls and other anti-radiation goodness. The only service that works inside my department is Cingular, and that's onlybecause they have a tower 30 feet above us on the roof. Everyone else is SOL, until they step outside our area.

anyone have a suggestion for a specific repeater? For verizon works .. heh.. altho, if it's not much more expensive, one that could work for most providers too...

My house is the same way, cept its mainly just the carrier. I have Verizon and get 1 or 2 bars and some areas of the house ill get dropped calls. Nextel is bout the same but dont get dropped calls. Cingular gets perfect reception. I still have a year with Verizon or id make the switch but i hear the new Razr has great reception so i may check that out.

Actually someone on Howard Forums has that on order so I'd wait until he installs it a reports back. Actually if you look at the site you linked that kit doesn't include an external antenna.

Here is a PCS-only one one person had good results with.

Here is the one you linked but with an external antenna.
