Our cat is pregnant, I think

I've got a nice little box with towels in it for her to rest in, and her food and water by it. She moves a lot slower now, and her tummy is getting really big :shock; I think she is ready to give birth.

Should I do anything else to make it easier on the cat?

That sounds pretty good. Just keep her food/water full. Once she gives birth, she probably won't leave the box for a few weeks.

two bonus questions:

1 - How long is a typical cat's pregnancy?

&

2 - This cat is almost one year old exactly, is that too young for a cat to do this? lol

Have you tried googling for some advice?

Anyways, you should really get her fix and any kittens she has. There are enough strays as it is... and you won't have to put up with her being in heat.

Maybe this will put things into some perspective for you:
The Brain: Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Pinky: Well, I think so, Brain, but if Jimmy cracks corn, and no one cares, why does he keep doing it?

Topic Title: Our cat is pregnant, I think
Topic Summary: How should she be cared for?

Size 12 to the gut FTW???

Okay, so I'm not a cat lover. I'm allergic to them, too, so that doesn't help matters....

Why not call a vet's office and/or visit your local petsmart, Superpetz, etc and see if you can obtain advise and/or buy a book?

You can do whatever you want to comfort her but she is still going to have the kittens in a dark closet or under your bed. 🙂

63 days. Most give birth at 65.

Actually, yes. It's recommended never to let cats give birth before they reach 1.

Some cats may require assistance giving birth. Just place your hands at their hind legs. They'll push. It may hurt. You. 😉

EDIT: She may also pee on a couple of things. Couches, pillows, boxes. DO NOT mask the scent with vinegar or whatever. It helps the kittens find their 'home' 😉.

Just do like some neighbor did to our neighborhood and set her loose. Litters every year!

Was this pregnancy on purpose?

edit: ooh my post count - I may never post again!

haha, people are really anti cat procreation on this board, LOL. I just figured since there are so many people that like cats here they would have some good advice.

This is a farm cat, and she was lost for 2 weeks and when she came back she was very skinny and weak. We nursed her back to health, and then her stomach started getting huge. So no, it's not a planned pregnancy, but we're not going to abort or whatever. Were just letting nature take its course.
