They are all over the outside of our building. It has been cold lately and now we are having "indian summer" this week, so I guess they are enjoying the warm weather. I ended up with a bunch of them in my car today.

Why can't they die when it gets cold like other insects? These buggers hibernate instead.

Its kinda cool and annoying at the same time.

Is anyone else noticing the same thing in your area?

You live in Ohio perchance? Cause I know my dorm is currently under seige. I've been killing hundreds every week. The problem is that they're some asian ladybug and not normal, thus they migrate to the warmth of your home.

They bite, or so says my old roommate. He had a fit saying a rogue ladybug had bitten him.

We have them here too, in central IL. This is the only place I've ever lived where ladybugs swarm. And these little bastards BITE (not bad, but still)!! WTF is up with that???

they arent lady bugs as we know them...they are Asian ladybeetles (Harmonia axyridis)

Hmm, could be. These guys are orange, though, and have few if any spots. They look just like lady bugs and have the exact same shape.

You've got to come to the midwest, then. These little bastards have a little bite to them. Not too painfull, but annoying.

They are carnivorous, so of course they bite.

The ones we have seem to be asian and not the native species. Which is too bad, because the asian ones are destroying the native populations.

EDIT: I live in London Ontario Canada (south western Ontario near Lake Erie.)

Or how about Minnesota? They are so thick here we can't go outside without getting a bug up our nose.

Yeah, the west side of my office building is covered in them. Live in SE Wisconsin.

Those things smell awful when you kill them, too.

The native ladybug is carnivorous too. They don't bite.

the best way i've found to kill them is just take a soda bottle (pop for the real mid-westerners) and collect them. A little water in the bottom and they don't escape. Once it gets to sick to look at the bottle, i throw it out and a new one is started...

That is sad, if they really are causing a decline in native species.

I don't think we have them around here yet, at least not like that..

I have seen large groups of ladybugs, several hundred, but not the house covering variety...

And they've certainly never bitten me.. lol .. I mean, look at how small their mandibles are.. How could they even grab any skin? :p

I've not heard this. The asian ladybeetles were imported to eat the aphids that the natives wouldn't touch.

My parents live in the country just outside of Minneapolis and when I went to see them last weekend their house was coated with them. Tens of thousands of ladybugs. My dad said he was being bitten but I never noticed.

Yeah, they're all over St. Cloud too.
