Our '02 Blazer turned 3 yrs. old yesterday and just turned over 80K miles....

We bought our 2002 Chevy Blazer 3 years ago yesterday, new. Just noticed it turned 80K miles over last weekend (rarely look at the odometer...keep it on the trip meter for recording mileage on oil....I change oil by mileage).

The thing is....the damned tires that came on it, Uniroyal Laredos, just will not wear out!!! They still have 5/32" of tread left on them. And being a tad cheap, I intended to keep the OEM tires on the truck until they wore out before replacing them. Now it seems I may have to break down and just replace them before their time. I just cannot believe how long they've gone......I've essentially ignored them.....rotated them only once. I do keep up with the tire pressure monthly and they lose about 1-2 lbs. every couple of months.

But I despise them!!! The sidewalls are just too soft, they are suck in rain, and are noisy to boot. They do grip pretty well in dry, but that and the apparent long life are their only saving grace.

BTW.....in the 80K miles on the Blazer, we've had one problem. The intermittant function in the wiper motor died at six months, motor was replaced in 45 min. at the dealership under warranty. Other than that, nary a problem. It just keeps going and going.

Bloody tires!!

The OEM tires on my '03 S-10 are the same way. Goodyear Eagle GA's. Good in dry weather, in any other condition. They've survived 6 cross country AZ to VA round trips, plus daily commutes, and vacation trips to VA Beach, VA, and up to PA. I've put over 60,000 miles on them and they still have plenty of tread left.

I had a set of firestones on my 93 nissan truck. They lasted from 1994 - 2002, and I don't know how long they were on the truck before I got it in '94. I got about 90k miles out of them. They eventually started cracking so I got rid of them.
