I worked out for the first time in a while 2 nights ago (Chest, Triceps, Shoulders). I didn't do anything real heavy and I didn't do a lot of anything, really, because I didn't want to be very sore. But last night at about 3 am, I woke up with a very sore left elbow.

It's not my tricep that is sore, but it is the tendon that runs from my tricep to my forearm. It feels puffy compared to my right elbow and I am limited in motion without pain. Any movements from 0 degrees to 90 degrees are okay. Anything more than 90 degrees hurts. When I first woke up (before taking some Advil), 0 to 20 degrees hurt as well.

Anyone know what this is? And please don't say Tennis elbow... :(

i don't know what it is, but a while ago I used to on occasion get a sore elbow as well, right in the middle of doing a particular tricep workout. I've not had it in a while.

So, basicallyI can't help much, but it's not totally rare :)

Thanks Skoorb. It's a first for me. I used to work out a lot and never had any pain like this. I probably inflamed my elbow with jerky movements or something to that nature. Guess I'll just ice it and take Advil.

Is it something to do with the Summer just coming along or is it something in the water?? I went out jogging last night only to find out that I'm very unfit and had to walk the rest of the way home - luckily for me however I'm in no pain :D

Hope your elbow gets better.

Depending on how old you are, it could be tendonitis too...

But you probably just pulled something. It wasn't necessarily when you worked out either...could have been after the workout when things tightened up that did it. Just let it rest for a couple of days, ice it....then stretch it lightly after you get it good and cold.
