I helped my father put a new roof on a building he owns today (beautiful sunny day, hardly a cloud in the sky, about 85 degrees). Sunblock/sunscreen didn't even cross my mind.

Needless to say, my arms, legs and the back of my neck is nice and red.

What makes/helps the burn go away?

I'm supposed to go help him again tomorrow...will my burn get worse if I wear sunblock?

Alright
1.)First coat it with aloe gel and let it soak in
2.)this is critical Coat it with baby oil. The oil will help lock in the moisture.
3.)Yes, you will make it worse even with sunblock. Wear loose clothing that covers the burn.

Edit: oh, and don't sit on any nice furniture after the baby oil goes on :D

seriously.

Like Quaker oatmeal? Wouldn't that clog the drain?

Is there a preference between Rolled Oats and Steel Cut Oats?

Remember, sunburn is a burn. No different than if you burned yourself on a hot surface. You will be sorry tomorrow if more sun gets to it. Wear light weight clothes that cover your parts. Wear a bandana under a hat to cover the back of your neck.

You can cover yourself with sun screen, but it is not going to help you right now since you are already burned.

Here is something that works well.

Take several teabags and brew a strong pot of tea.

Let it completely cool and then take a washcloth and moisten it with the tea. Gently cover the burn with the washcloth, and the pain and heat will instantly get better. Apply as often as desired.

Well, I just stepped out of a 'oatmeal' bath (was in for about 20 min) and coated my burned parts with Aloe (a few other parts too, that weren't burned...common, like you have done it before) and now, I think it hurts more (the burned parts that is). :p

Skin just feels tighter, so it hurts.

I haven't been burned this bad in a long, long time. I knew Aloe Vera, but the oatmeal bath stuff was new to me.

Plus, everyone has their version of an old wives tale that occasionally work.

Yep, it's the tannins in the tea that do the job.
