Ouch, Mt Dew 4 times more corrosive to your teeth then plain cola.

The stuff is incredibly fattening too. It has a ton of calories and HFCS, and since it's liquid it doesn't make your stomach feel full. It's like you're pureeing Twinkies in a blender and injecting them directly into your bloodstream.
 
Diet sodas, regular sodas, and other products with high fructose corn syrup have been linked to increasing risk of diabetes.

You have been warned.

I never knew that non-colas were more erosive than dark-colas.

It doesn't affect me much, since 98% of my fluid intake is pure water, but when I do drink soda, it's usually Sprite.
Now I guess that'll be changing.
 
Very interesting, espeicially that non colas seem to be significantly worse than colas.
Mountain dew is at about 15 mg/cm^2 while Pepsi, coke, and dr. pepper are around 3 - 3.5

I like root beer so it's good to know it's not much worse than tap water 🙂

You switched pops to slove your dental problem! That is one of the worst examples of logic I have ever heard of. Just because something is "less corrosive" dosen't mean it isn't corrosive at all. Pop is horrible for your teeth across the board. If people limit their pop intake to meal times it really dosen't matter what you drink (dentally speaking). Drinking anything but water between meals will hurt your teeth.

There are meay reasons your gums may be receeding but switching pop will not help. You need to see a dentist if your teeth are hurting. One thing about teeth is that problems don't get better they always get worse even if it stops hurting (that is actually a indication that a root canal is needed).

Good grief, stop worrying about everything, and enjoy whatever kind of drink you like. You only live once and teeth are fixable. If you're drinking two pops a day for 13 years you've got bigger problems anyways, so don't cut out your one Sprite or Mountain Dew(I can't imagine people actually drink that) per week because of this study. It really is irrelevant.

You could use a straw to help minimize the amount/time that the sodas hit your teeth. Of course it won't beat not drinking soda at all.
 
Maybe I was correct in assuming my perforated ulcer was due to me drinking 8 cans of that stuff within 4 hrs...

I'm not saying you SHOULD obviously, but I wouldn't recommend changing your lifestyle because something MIGHT happen in 10 years like cancer or tooth decay. Live how you want, don't let the chance of something somewhere happening force you to change your daily routine if you're enjoying it as it is.
Your argument can be just as easily reversed, should I stay in doors because I MIGHT get hit by a car today? Which by the way, is more probable than either of the above diseases anyways.
