So I'm doing my physics final today and about 1/4 of the way through the fire alarm goes off. So we all go outside and wait. We come back in and continue working for another 1.5 hrs when the alarm goes off AGAIN, this time with about 1 hr left in the exam.. Sigh. Okay, so we all go outside again, come back in and continue writing.

Word is there's not going to be a re-scheduling either, which really sucks as the test was extremely hard. One girl left crying after the first fire alarm, and most others weren't too pleased with their performances either. Ah well.

Might be... probably not though. He didn't scale the first midterm, and only scaled the second one because the average was ~50%. Here's hoping.

Fire alarm goes off almost every night around 2 or 3 up here...I always sleep through it, because I know it's not real.

I think it would be VERY unfair if he didn't curve this exam given the circumstances.

Happened during my test, the proctor said "don't leave, it's probably fake," and then 2 minutes he goes into the hall and comes back saying "Ok we should leave now." Everyone just left and he rescheduled the exam. I thought it was funny.

Nah, if there was an actual fire, and it was near my room, I'd just climb out my window. I'm on the first floor.

It was kinda funny because the fire alarm had been going off for about 3-4 minutes with no one wanting to move for fear of getting some kind of penalty and this lady comes in: "Alright everyone, in case you hadn't noticed, there IS a fire alarm going off." no fvcking sh!t lady. "Everyone should leave now."

So we all did as we were told. Of course it was faked. The second time it went off I asked if we should go, but the supervisors just stared at me like I was retarded. After about 3-4 minutes this guy comes in and says: "You all have to get out NOW. It's university policy. I don't care that this is a final."

Heh those supervisors sure looked stupid then.

Thing is, the prof is out of town right now as I think he's the head of a project going on at Brookhaven National Labs in NY. I think he's there right now, so we can't really phone him or anything. I guess a few of us will write emails.

I used to have that problem when I was in the dorms. Every bar night (Wednesday) there'd be a guaranteed fire alarm at 3 am. You'd get in major sh!t if you didn't get up too. Then that turned into a war between two buildings, phonebooks in the microwaves, dead fish in the heaters, fire alarm after fire alarm... It got to the point where there were 4 in one night once and I had a final to go to the next morning. I just went and slept outside the test room for a few hours. Got my ass handed to me on that one too.

Complain often. You probably won't be tested again or given an extension, but hopefully he will curve the class.

My profs never "curved" exams. They "curved" the class at the end of the semester by sorting the class by grades and looking for natural breaking points.

I guess someone really didn't want to take their exam... It wasn't a drill or anything. They don't have those :p

They were very strict about no talking about the exam. Professors were littered amongst us. We did manage to communicate to each other that the test was kicking our asses so far though. Much more difficult than the midterms.

Seriously, you should have cooperated with one another outside...I know a lot of people start at different points in the exam, so you could see what's coming up and review formulas, equations and theories! oh well, hope it turns out well

We were given a basic sheet with Maxwell's equations in differential form and a bunch of vector identities etc. Most of the test was deriving other formulas which we were given, or finding values of fields at certain points etc. It wouldn't have made much difference. Besides, no one wanted to get caught.
