Ouch! I just sat on a pin!

alright this is kinda of emberassing, but i just sat on a pin, apparently the previous owner had left a nice 2 inch pin on the recliner to keep the cloth together or something. I didn't realize this until I sat on it.

I was wondering what kind of infection can I get from this? and should I go take a shot at the hospital or something.
The pain is nothing, even though the pin is a tad thicker than a paper clip.

The pin is not rusty or anything it was used to keep the cloth on the headrest and apparently it had fell down. The thing is pretty damn thick, it's about 2 inches long and it bent at the half inch mark. And no it didn't get my nutsack, just my cheeks.

i have insurance but i don't want to go through the paperwork.

Have you had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years? If so, you're fine.

Tetanus is caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani. It's everywhere. It even lives in your body, as apart of your digestive tract flora. You really only have to worry if that pin was in contact with feces, or outside soil.

The spores only germinate if they enter a wound deeper than oxygen can penetrate.

They should. I got mine at this health unit thing because it was really cheap. If you haven't had a tetanus shot in a while (10+ years I think), then I would recommend going and getting one soon just to have it, even if you don't get it from this. I went because I jabbed myself pretty deep with an extremely rusty piece of metal that had been lying out in our field.

A guy at work tells a story about going to Alaska and getting a treble hook stuck in his nutsack when he fell on an open tackle box and having a guy that he met 3 days before remove it. They were an 8 hour car ride from any other humans and he didn't relish riding in a car for 8 hours with that stuck in him.
