Ouch... Got all 4 of my Wisdom Teeth Out

It isn't that bad. I had five (yes, I had an extra) pulled out on the same day and it wasn't so bad. For the most part I just watched movies and ate milkshakes. There was little pain and the painkillers weren't even needed.

I had all 4 taken out while I was awake. Only used 4 out of the 30 T3s the doc gave me, and ate a full turkey dinner 3 days later (it was uncomfortable, but I managed). It hurt the first night though, and I bled/drooled all over my pillow.

Geez, y'all are making me look forward to this. I already had 4 teeth removed, premolars, several years ago, and my teeth are starting to get crowded again now. Seems that it just gets worse the older you are. My econ teacher, in her 30s probably, had hers out, and she was in pain for over a week.

I never got how people could get so swollen for so long, but I guess it just happens to some people.
Econ teacher's cheeks were visibly swollen at least 4 days after she had hers out. She had hers out on a Friday, and by Tuesday, she only was able to lecture for about 60% of the full class time, and talked very quietly the entire time, barely moving her jaws at all.

Heh, according to this chart wisdom teeth come in between the age of 17 and 21, thing is, I've had my wisdom teeh (all 4) since I was about 13 or 14.. 😕 I can remember when my gums began to hurt, (second grade), pain went away after a while and then at around 7th grade they came out. I still have them so I don't see why people would get them removed especially if they aren't hurting...

Its unusual for your 3rd molars to come out at that age. You sure it wasn't your 2nd molars? Because they erupt around age 12, and your first molars around age 6. Maybe you don't even have any wisdom teeth at all? 3rd molars are the most common missing teeth in people.

LoL, I've had some people tell me, "oh those are just 14 year old molars" I was like WTF? Unless I'm suppose to have 4 molars, I've got my wisdom teeth (3 molars)....

You must be very developmently advanced, dentally speaking for them to pop out at age 14. Funny thing, 2 weeks ago a patient came in with alot of pain into our oral surgery emergency clinic, the guys had two 4th molars!!! Weird stuff.

The good thing about any type of surgery in the mouth, is that the soft tissues in the mouth regenerative faster than pretty much anywhere in your body. Here you have people tell you they didn't need any or very little pain meds after surgery! I know people who had ankle surgery and have been on vicadin everyday for 3 years.

Also it's alot easier to get them out the earlier you are. Ideally before you are 21. After that your jaw bone starts going from being rather soft and pliable to becoming more tough and brittle. That means a more complicated surgery with more bone removal. The more bone involvement the more swelling you end up having post-op. I got mine out when I was 24 and it wasn't too bad, of course they had drill alot of bone so I was on percocet so even though my face ballooned for two days it didn't phase me one bit.

Coun't yourself lucky. My dentist tried to pull 2 wisdom teeth out, 5 hours later, 1 is out and the other broke... I still have a piece in my mouth. Apparently they fused to whatever is below them.

Clearly your dentist is a quitter!

Err, I wasn't willing to stay there any longer... I want to be able to walk away from the chair. Was on prescription painkiller (tylenol 3) for like a week. Made driving interesting 🙂
