LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Former "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff and his wife Pamela were injured in a motorcycle accident blamed on a strong gust of wind, police said Friday.

The two were riding along Sepulveda Boulevard on Hasselhoff's 2003 Harley Davidson near a freeway overpass Thursday afternoon when the wind gust caused him to lose control of the bike. As he was trying to regain control, the motorcyle ran into a curb, throwing the couple from the bike, with Hasselhoff flying into a light pole and his wife landing on the soft shoulder of the road.

The actor fractured his lower back and broke several ribs. His wife sustained a fractured left ankle and right wrist.

The two are being cared for at UCLA Medical Center, where they are listed in stable condition.

Having ridden many miles on the wheeled couches known as Harley Davidson's, I can assure you that wind has never been a factor in guiding them from point A to point B.

Methinks Dave is a squid.

He's lucky to be alive after being thrown into a light pole. Those don't have a lot of give to them.

Nope...that put the image into my head of that episode when Homer gets into a fight with Bart's big brother and follows over backwards onto a fire hydrant. Just extremely painful.

No kidding... I went to high school with a guy who was ejected from a vehicle during an accident. His legs his a pole, and he ended up losing both of them.

And why is it imported, you ask? Because anything this intense and potent is usually smuggled into this country in balloons. And we as fans pay a premium for such prime stuff.

HAHAH one of the latest quotes hehehehe fun stuff
