I feel minimal amounts of sympathy, if that.

Its's not a perfect world. not everyone who has accumulated debt will deserve this.

many will, but certainly not all

Reality is that debt like unsecured credit cards are a very contemporary problem. They are a complete product of a frivolous, materialistic, sense of entitlement ridden society. They are not required for life though many people treat them and rely on them as if they are.

As I speak to my elders in my grandparents and great grandparents generation I realize how truly ridiculous the credit debt "epidemic" has become.
Back not a few short decades ago people loaned money for just very large purchases and then lived with what money they had. Money is scarce, well you tighten up the belt. Sure some got into bad debt and bankruptcies were there, but not like today.

Today if you can't afford something, charge it. Money flow starts to hurt, no longer do you have to change your lifestyle, you can just rack up debt to maintain it. Can't afford the lifestyle you want, charge your way into it. Sad.

I've had a few clients recently that were refinancing or pulling a HELOC, I asked them if they were going to put it into the house. They told me that they were going to use it to pay their credit card minimum and pay their mortgage payments! They couldn't really afford the house and lifestyle when they bought it, so they are just going to borrow more, still not being able to afford it. Scary.

Sure there are times when you need to borrow to get by and that's normal for everyone who lives. But instead people are just racking up debt to live lives they can't afford. This is becoming all too common. I can't feel much sympathy for that.

I definitely agree. I am only speaking about the little people that need to borrow temporarily..like me through colelge or something

<--kept a $1000 credit limit since as long as he can remember🙂

They usually don't give me a calll unless I get near $1500, as I did a while back due to a brain fart😱

I did that too for a while. Even though my income was minimal and I stopped using the card basically I was able to pay my minimum and would be able to if they had doubled them.

/me goes to make another large cc payment.

Just paidoff my CitiBank credit card $1,485.00 ... w00t!

I did that two or so months back $1200 and paid it of in full😀

It's a good feeling isn't it?

It's like getting a dual fvk you/thank you for the loan type dealie....

you are glad they aren't fiendishly continuing to fvk you over and yet are thankful that they gave you the oppertunity to do so if you pleased..😀

CC payments are so delishiously evil and yet angelic

The duality that is credit😀

Less then $1,000 in credit card debt plus I always pay considerably more then minimum anyway... got in trouble years back by over-spending so I'm careful now!

I work 4 citibank, they emplimented some of the rules earlier in the year. They are uping the ammount agian though. American hold such high debt, if we don't do something about it soon we are going to have some major problems. I doubt to many CC companies will go bankrupt, unless people really are pushing the limits of what they can hold on a credit card. I dunno, I work in the collections department, I can give you an update in a few months. 🙂

BTW, citibank is offering a assitance program to help people that have trouble adjusting to the new min due. I don't know if other creditors will offer anything similar though.
