was switching to my new KT7A-RAID from my MSI K7T Pro2-A, and my old 1.1 Tbird didn't respond. I had been running it un-OC'ed in the MSI for about a week before, was working perfectly. the abit board however didn't take to liking it and beeped like crazy and shut off after 5 seconds. after re-applying the HSF and plugging it into another fan slot, it didn't beep anymore but instead had ZERO response. no video, the keyboard light didn't go, no system beeps.

plugged it into my old K7T Pro2-A and same result, the DLEDs show nothing but red and nothing initiates, just the fans running.

i had this running without OC'ing (hell i'd gotten rid of the pencil marks) and it's still pretty dead i'm thinking. crap, guess it's RMA time, first week of classes and me w/out a system, loverly i say. :p

wow I had a kt7 a few months ago with my gig tbird. booted up with everything installed right and computer shutoff after a few seconds and did every time after. rmad everything and they gave me a new cpu and same board, the new cpu worked but I had tons of issues with the board so got an msi board.

i have no idea if the board does something wierd to cpus or not

i would just stick with msi and get a raid conroller if you want one, msi is the most stable amd board i had so far

i like the msi k7t pro2-a board but it's just got problems. i had the multiplier issue ppl've been talking about, and it's just had some other minor bugs that've picked at me. it's an awesome board that's one of the most stable i've seen once it gets going, but like overclockers.com said it's a pretty cranky board to get going and doesn't like change much. i've been mostly abit until the cusl2 at which point i switched to asus and they've always been mostly on and off i think, i don't know what happened w/ asus but they don't seem to be too interested in the via market. so i went with msi at that point, seems i'll be going back to my roots with amd.

thing is i wanted the KT133a chipset as well, so i decided the kt7a-raid was just a better solution, that and i'd be more familiar with an abit board. with the perfect scores it's been getting i figure it's not a bad choice (although the scores probably reflect more on it being a KT133a chipset board then it's stability).

as for the CPU, i called imcompz today and they said they'd cross-ship me a new 1.1 tbird next day (getting here wednesday, when i called at noon today monday they'd already passed their shipping mark). no hassle at all, said that all i had to worry about was if the core was cracked (not a scratch on it) and make sure if i DID oc it to remove the pencil marks ;) definitely one of the best retailers i've bought from.
