I was experiencing the "distortion" problem which was fixed by turning mouse shadows off but now I have a bigger problem.Only at 1024x768 my mouse pointer is invisible(still works if you can figure out where it is)and I have a "shadow running down the right hand of the screen about50 pixels wide.Everything is fine in other resolutions.
 
Have you got the refresh rates and screen geometry controls for the monitor set correctly?
 
yes,I could check to see if it's the monitor since I have another 17"
but I don't see how it could be with the invisible mouse problem.
