Other than word of mouth, what's the best place to find roommates?

whatever u do, have some sort of interview process with a prepared list of questions. be picky about it as you're going to be seeing this person quite often.

smoking, pets, cleanliness, occupation ($$)...etc.

I worked for the university apartments for a few years. You want to eliminate anyone with a psych degree... and people who work with metal.

craigslist worked awesome for me, but... like you said, it's not so big in your area... try the classifieds in a local newspaper? have a college nearby that you could flyer at or take out a classified in the school newspaper?

Try the daily paper classifieds. I see a lot of them in our paper (I live in a military town).

Craigslist works pretty well, but do be prepared to get plenty of phone calls from retards who try to bend your rules. I was searching for a male only roomate, and made that VERY clear, and I kept getting phone calls from these stupidass girls. I also said ages 18-24 and had these 35 year old whacko's calling me. I don't think my (former) college roomates would be happy if I replaced myself with a 35 year old FOB pedophile from Guadalawhogivesacrap.
