Hi Mike, I run the RC5 and OGR projects and have done some SETI in the past too.
RC5 is a project that is sponsored by RSA Data Security, they have issued a public challenge with a $10,000 prize for the organization or person who can find the correct 64-bit key to decode a message that they encrypted with RC5-64. The first words of the message are known, that is how the client knows if it might have the right key.
The OGR project looks for an optimal way to arrange marks on a ruler so that no two marks are separated by the same distance. OGR stands for "Optimal Golumb Ruler" (Golumb is the name of the mathemetician who came up with these).
SETI@home does scientific analysis of radio-telescope data to find unusual signals that could be extraterrestial, or that might represent a previously-unknown astronomical feature.
