Other keyboards with lowprofile keys like the MS Comfort Curve 2000

Anyone know of any? From all appearances the G series from logitech don't appear to have quite as low profile keys. I also detest all the extra stuff on those keyboards, I don't mind a few media keys like the MS but I don't need all those macro keys.

Just want something USB that has lowprofile keys, basically like the Comfort Curve 2000 but without the comfortable curve if I can get it plus I'm worried about MS reliability. I've liked their mice but they don't last nearly as long as my logitech stuff.

Thanks!

I looked it up, that's definitely not a keyboard with low profile keys like the MS 2000

the Optimus Maximus looks nice if I spoke 5 different languages requiring 5 different alphabets (and made 5 times the income I do now).

The gigabyte looks perfect, thats exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately I couldn't find it available for sale anywhere.
I like the BenQ but it looks too risky for my taste, I am a purist of sorts from the olden days. I use a Logitech G3 mouse because I like my mice light and small without 9 buttons that I never use (and get in the way of pwning).

Trying to find a suitable replacement for my nice black PS/2 IBM keyboard has been hard. I am ready to jump to a few media keys, as sometimes when I'm fullscreen I like to change tracks. I suppose a small app like anyhotkey could do that even probably without exiting my application and I'm starting to consider that.

I used the MS 2000 and liked it, but the slight movement of keys is something I'm not used to, it's mostly the low profile keys that have me interested in getting a new keyboard.

I thought I found the perfect one right here-
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech...qid=1205307197&sr=1-21

Then I found these reviews on Newegg. :(

Cons: First and foremost when playing my games I am always holding one or more buttons for extended periods. Occasionally this keyboard will stop sending that input (i.e. I will stop running or strafing or crouching and get killed) this is highly annoying to any gamer. Second no LED's I'm a late night gamer so its hard to see my keys. I knew this when purchasing it of course but I wish I had looked for an LED one.

Cons: This keyboard isn't the best for gaming. Certain key combinations can't be pressed simultaneously, making it hard to control whatever you are doing. You won't notice it when playing stuff like WOW where you have pretty simple requiremtns for controls, but with FPSs you might end up having to change some of your controls. Then again, thats a pretty common problem with alot of keyboards, and when ur paying less than $20 for one you can't expect prefection.

Very disappointing.

I'm a little afraid of puchasing a $4 keyboard because I bet it has the same issue as this very nice looking logitech.

I have a MS Comfort Curve 2000 here in the house and will try it out tomorrow for multiple key presses in gaming, if it passes the test I might as well order that. Keep the suggestions coming though if you have more. I'm pretty disappointed in the keyboard market. That logitech would be very appealing to a large population if they'd fix that simultaneous keypress bug.

I also found this one though, this is a very nice looking keyboard that's available for preorder http://www.microsoft.com/hardw...tab=systemRequirements

AFAIK, all keyboards except the Logitech G15 / G11 and the Razer Tarantual Lycosa have that simultaneous key-press limitation.

I've been using the new apple corded keyboard with my pc the past couple of months:

Very responsive after I've gotten used to the feel of the keys, but you lose a few key functionalities (like there is no print screen or insert keys and I haven't figured out how to modify the registry of the keyboard to get those keys).

Hmm, I hadn't noticed that on this old keyboard. Maybe I don't press enough keys at once but it seems to work fine with multiple keys at once. I probably don't press enough simultaneously to really make it stop.

Found this webpage to researching the topic -
Okay on preview, I decided to test my Logitech G15, and it registers a mere 6 simultaneous keypresses. So take that for what you will.

Ok, I did a simultaneous keytest on my keyboards.

edit- I redid my tests to make them more pertinent to a WASD gaming situation because I noticed some strange quirks in the MS regarding which keys would be pushed down at once.

MS Comfort Curve 2000: shift + space + Q,W,E,R,T
IBM PS/2 keyboard (model KB-9910): shift + space + Q,W,E,R
MS Wireless KB 700 (model 1060): shift + space + Q

Now that's interesting. If you want to do this test I made up, open up notepad, hold space, then shift, then go down the row QWERTYUIOP.

Typing on the MS 2000 is by far the best typing experience I've found, I don't particularly enjoy the slight widening of the keys because I've been typing for decades but the low profile feel to the keys, similar to laptop keys is definitely welcome to save some effort. I'm not sure there are many other good choices on the market right now.

Razer Lycosa is slim and shorter key stroke and also rubber coated keys....expensive though

I decided on the Logitech Access 600 keyboard. It said lowprofile keys and I trust Logitech's quality due to the previous Logi devices I've owned. I gotta reward quality stuff with a repurchase, if you don't yer a fool in my book! At least thats the conclusion I came to.
Also have a nice steelseries qck+ otw for my G3.
