Of course they track mail, it's mail. UPS wouldn't do a very good job of delivering packages if they couldn't track where they are at any given time.

This isn't the government opening your letters and scanning them, it's the post office keeping track of where letters are from and where they are going so they can find lost letters.

The number of companies willingly turning over data to the government is legitimately disturbing though.

Pictures front/back are the least interesting news here, that barely considers me and I do feel it may have a legitimate function to serve their business.

Details of emails recorded do not serve an internet providers' business, neither does virtually everything else here.

We really are seeing the dismantling of the 4th amendment at the federal level.

Not to mention a likely reason for the USPS is broke, that has to be an extremely expensive to do, I mean we are talking what? 100's of billions of pieces of mail photographed per year?

theres a difference between using the images for delivering the mail. and storing it so that it can be tracked after its been delivered.

USPS has to fund retirement for people who aren't even born yet. That's why it's "broke"

Hey OP, don't forget to smile and wave at the camera as it recognises your face and attaches location and date time for it's records.

Technology isn't it wonderful? You think it's bad now? Wait another 10 years.

We insist the Government to protect us, hold them accountable when they don't, and now were all up in arms or data collection?

Please.

To quote David Simon:

"We want cake, we want to eat it, and we want to stay skinny and never puke up a thing. Of course we do."
