Other alternatives than newegg? (zipzoomfly & tigerdirect)

Hey everyone. I've been buying stuff from newegg, and overall I like their service, price, and inventory. Their RMA is also easy and good, too. I've been searching for other sites where they are just as good (if not the same) as newegg and came up with ZipZoomFly and TigerDirect. But my questions is for all you people who have used either both...

1. How is their customer service? Is it fast, easy, and reliable?

2. How do they package their items? I know newegg always ships it with care and packaging peanuts, which is great!

3. I'm particulary attracted to zipzoomfly's FREE 2nd day delivery... it seems to even beat newegg with the price/date ratio, how is this?

4. How is the RMA process compared to the newegg? Is it just as fast and simple?

5. Any other suppliers just as good as mentioned above you would recommend?

Thanks!

Cheifvalue is a newegg clone, owned by newegg.

tankguys is another one to consider, my new favorite etailer. great service, may not be the lowest price but almost always competitive. plus the owner hangs around here a lot. the whole staff there is very helpful and responsive. good stuff.

Zipzoomfly is very good in my experience, the free 2nd day FedEx is quite nice. I would not hesitate to use them.

After buying almost exclusively from Newegg for the last few years, I recently tried ZZF because they had the model power supply (egg didn't have it) and free 2nd day Fedex. I was very happy with them and would buy from them again. I haven't used TigerDirect yet but a friend of mine swears by them. I have other friends who buy regularly from Computer Geeks (compgeeks.com) and Monarch.com. I also purchased a video card cooler from sidewindercomputers.com and was happy with their service too.

rocketbubba,
Actually, that's www.monarchcomputer.com, not monarch.com 😉

As for Tigerdirect, I have used them on the rare occassion, but their shipping charges are beyond absurd. I tend to go with either Newegg, Monarch, ZZF, and even Buy.com (sometimes, you can find a steal, and they have a distribution center very close to me, so budget shipping is often next day 😎 ).

Though they don't have the breadth of inventory that most of the aforementioned sites have, jab-tech is nice for some hard to find items, especially on the cooling front. Frozencpu.com is another good site for :Q cooling supplies :Q of all things.

I've ordered from all of the sites I've mentioned, and have yet to have a problem with any of them. What it really boils down to is check them all out, since they often have the same item for prices that are quite a bit different. If you're getting a bunch of stuff, it may be better to bundle up at one place for shipping reasons, or sometimes to spread it around.

A final site that I've only used once, but with excellent results is NCIX.com. Shipping is expensive, but I got my BenQ DW1640 from them for $50 shipped back in July 😀

Newegg's search and inventory system cannot be beat. Its been said before and its true, neweggs success is because of their amazing search system. The customer quickly has access to user reviews, pictures of the product and a pretty detailed list of specs.

That said, there prices aren't the greatest anymore. They are good, but not the greatest. A good strategy is to use newegg to find the product you want, then check out other reputable retailers to find the best price on the product. Use pricegrabber, froogle or pricewatch.

Monarchcomputers is good
ZZF is good
mwave have always been good to me.

But check resellerratings.com, I stay away from retailers that I can't find on there.
