you need an ATSC tuner. Problem is there are few choices and most are not that great. I have a kworld pci atsc tuner, it works ok I guess. One option is to pick up one of those OTA Satellite receivers, they tend do have ATSC tuners built in.

don't know if it is any good. But it is an ATSC tuner box with hdmi out.

I do like the Channel Master Brand overall.

For audio output it doesn't list HDMI as an option, just SPDIF (at least under the specs).

copy and pasted from channel master website. see bolded. I am assuming you are feeding the HT receiver and the HT receiver is feeding the projector?

Features
• Tunes ATSC antenna signals
• Tunes clear QAM unencrypted cable signals
• Simple set up and usability
• Digital broadcast quality SD + HD
• HDMI and optical audio outputs
• Dolby digital audio
• Provides on-screen program information
• Analog output for older televisions

Your bolded part doesn't specifically say audio over HDMI, I'm just being cautious. Reading reviews on amazon for the other product people complained they couldn't get audio over HDMI, so just trying to cover myself.

Thanks!

when it says HDMI and optical audio outputs, it means it output sound on both HDMI and optical.

I'm just being anal after reading those other reviews.

Peering at the other thread lead me to this:

http://www.channelmasterstore.com/HD_DVR_receiver_for_antenna_p/cm-7000pal.htm

It costs quite a bit more but received excellent reviews and has a DVR built in. Another option was:

http://www.epvision.com/HDTVSTB/phdvrxmain.htm

But I read a review that it doesn't play will with receivers. I wonder if this was the same issue the Amazon reviewers had. I guess the epvision was designed to run directly to a TV and not have a middle-man processor, thus the sound issues.

if you want a dvr, I would just grab a computer and one of those usb or pci tuners and use your computer to drive the projector.

It's what I do :awe:

That is a dull tuner, meaning you can record one show and watch another.

I am assuming your computer has HDMI out.

I've been using that tuner in my HTPC for the past 3 years. I really like it. It might be obvious, but it can also record two shows at once.

While it might not be the shiniest of tuners, I don't think dull is the right word for it. Dual would be more appropriate.

Sweet, thanks. Yes my PC has HDMI out. I was thinking about getting an HTPC but with all the consoles I have, they generally replaced the need for one. At $90 for a PCI-E card capable of both, I can probably get a PC going for under $200 and be spending similar amount of money.
