OT: why does it say media disconnected as my IP address????

i'm in the middle of gaming, and i lose connection. i check out my TCP/IP settings, go to winipcfg to check my IP address, and it says "Media Disconnected" instead of my assigned IP address.
why did it change itself and what the heck does that mean?

i'm on cable, and i know my cable service is still working.
all my other computers have internet connectivity, except for this one.

anyone know?

Media disconnected generally means the network card cannot detect an ethernet cable plugged in. Maybe try a different cable?
