Hi,

I need a new cpu fan. the one in my computer is making a loud grinding sound. I already sprayed the crap out of it with a compressed air can. So obviously the fan is about to go.

I'm looking for something that will fit the GA-7dxr board. I'm also looking for something that doesn't have any high pitched annoying sounds.

So far looked at the thermalright sk6 (i think it is)
the thermaltake volcano 7
i like global win heatsink&fans' too

and thats pretty mmuch it. I'd like to get the volcano 7+ as that has a hardware switch to control the speed of the fan but can't find it.

I have the GlobalWin FOP32 i think ... i forget
Thanks!

BTW, i'm up to about 75 crunched WU's

The FOP32 came with a 27cfm YS Tech fan as its stock fan. How did you feel about the noise level of that fan, before it started having trouble? Was it fine, borderline, or definitely too loud?

I had an FOP-32 on my xp1900+ before i water cooled it. Maybe that's why it ran so Hot :)

Here's a fan noise page that's pretty cool Fan Noise just click on Green arrow at the right of the fan you want to hear.

the one i have now, the global win, sounds almost like that. The delta's are definitly 10 times louder than what i have now! Might actually be a little quiter than that but it's close.

here's the actual link to the fan noise.

Not a single panaflo listed?!? Panaflo are the noise kings! Well, maybe I should say the lack-of-noise kings. Comparing RPM's, CFM and dB's, I think panaflo's are the best over-all deal. I use an SK-6 with an 80mm panaflo. You can get an 80mm on the sink if you turn it 45 degrees. Personally, I think it's a great combination. Great cooling, not as costly as swifty's, and quiet.

I'm currently using some Thermatake Volcano 6's that I'm happy with.. except I'm not currently doing any overclocking with em.

I used to have a pair of GlobalWin FOP32-1's on a dual board.. they worked great to help me overclock some p3-700s up to 966 stable. ;)

EDIT: As for fan noise, I ain't the person to talk to - just ask Baldy18 - he's been to my place and can probably tell you that the ambient noise level(from fans) is a bit greater than most peoples houses. Heck, it may be greater than some folks computer labs! :Q :D
