Ok I know this is OT, but I would like to try to use them for D/C. Someone just gave me 2 servers, One is a p90 with os2 on it, i think it has 96 meg ram, not sure though. It is an IBM pc server 320. The other one is a compuke model 3000 systempro with novell. Not sure of the speed or the ram in it.
I guess my basic ? is will I have to set them up as the servers for my other pcs, or can I just set them to look for my nat32 ip?

This is the first time I have had a server in my house so don't make to much fun of me😉

Thx all

Just because someone once called it a server doesn't mean anything.
Just treat it as any other computer and have it look to your NAT.

they are from a bank that my brother-n-law keeps the network running. Plus they are about 3-4 feet tall. So that would leave me to think that they r indeed servers🙂

Plus I know nothing about os2 or novell, any ideas how to set the ip?

Thx

you could possibly load windows on there, but i don't knwo about driver support 😛

The Cube needs all the power it can get, we need about a million blocks to pull into 44th 😉

don't want to go that far yet, if possible. They run ok now I just need some help setting them up, ip addressing that is. Like I said I am Stupid when it comes to os2 and novell.

Thx

I don't think IBM ever made OS2 into a server OS (OS2 is a workstation OS similar to Win3.1/Win9.x).

Novell NetWare is a proprietor OS and its administration tool is very nice & easy to use compare to Winblows NT4 or 2K. You can try to stick with Netware & learn something if you need a server (might want to look at Linux), otherwise I would turn the puters into routers or RC5 crakers.

The dead-set easiest way to get them cracking is to use Klinux. If they have a floppy drive and a network card, they have everything they need.

Download the Client.
Read the instructions.
Make the boot disk.
Read the instructions.
Start the machine with the bootdisk.
Read the instructions.
Follow the instructions after reading them.
Post your questions about klinux in this forum after reading the instructions.

Most of the little problems I had came about because I didn't read and then reread the instructions. Kilowatt is such a dude though, that he even forgives that and helps you anyway 🙂
