OT: What is the mystery Flavor?

I sit here reading the DC forum and along the way munch down on some Starburst Fruit Chews.
What is the mystery flavor? I try to stop eating them but in the back of my mind I hear the words.....

I have the same problem with the skittle's mystery flavor.

I think it's blue raspberry, but I'm not sure.

I was watching a thing on the Food Network a while ago where they showed how Dum-Dum lollipops are made. One of the questions they answered was, "what is the mystery flavor?"

It turns out the mystery flavor is a combination of two flavors that temporarily mix while they are switching flavors on the production line. They don't have separate lines for each flavor so when the are done making blueberry and want to switch to watermelon, a little bit of watermelon and blueberry get mixed. This mixture is separated somewhere in the finishing process and becomes the "mystery flavor!"

My guess is that other candy makers do the same thing. Why waste product when you can wrap it up and market it as the mystery flavor!
