jliechty, it's taking the "manual labor" out of making Fuel Vapor Tubes for automobiles. Take 2,000 feet coils of Nylon Fuel Vapor Tube. Precisely pull from reel, measure and cut tube. Place in 300 (precisely controlled as this stuff starts melting at 310) degree oven. When pushing a piece in, a piece comes out for Robot to grab. Robot then takes 300 degree nylon tube to a pneumatic (air controlled) bender. The bender takes the "HOT" tube and then bends into shape to fit car. The tube is then air cooled (noise in video) to room temperature, which forces tube to hold shape.

The bent tube is then picked up from the bender by the Robot and taken to the inserter. The inserter holds the tube with about a 300 pounds force pressure die. It then flares the end of the nylon for easy insertion of an automotive quick connect. It then inserts the orientated automotive quick connect into the end of the tube. If nothing went wrong during any of this (sensors control most of the process), the tube is then placed in the good pile (conveyor added later). If anything failed during this process, the tube is rejected to another location. A tube is being produced every 26.2 seconds on the short side....36.5 seconds on the long side.

An operator doing this takes cut nylon tubing, places a long, large spring into it and then places it into a conveyor oven for 18 minutes. They then take the hot tube and wind it around a "forming" fixture in the shape of the final product. They then air cool it for 60 to 90 seconds. The then take it to a hand loaded inserter and insert the connector. This is very labor intense and that is why our company is shipping 260 of such jobs to Mexico. 🙁. We're just trying to keep as much work as possible here and not across the border. I can only hope.

Good work on holding a decent portion of our jobs here. I may need you when it comes time to build my bomb shelter. The apocalypse isn't too far off ya know.
 
Engineer! That is waay cool! I just showed the full video to my son, a highschool Junior and he was fascinated"sp".
He has decided to take Pre-Engineering his senior year, a college credit course! He has watched your video 5 times
all the way through! He was considering a career in Architecture, but I think that your video has inspired him. I
finally had to burn him a CD of the full video so I could have my new Centrino laptop back. 😀

Mastertech, not that hard on a 1997, can't say about the newer ones. Kinda hard to get the boots off
without pinching them, I must have the wrong tool(pliers).
I had to tape up one of them that I pinched and started arching against the aluminum hole that
the boot seals against. hahaha, hard to find that one....especially after just changing the spark
plugs....
