So what are the "Hip" and needed certifications for the IT world ? LAst time I looked there was only Network+, A+ and MCSE. Seems like alot more choices now. I am not sure what I will do with it but am just looking forward to the next few years of making myself marketable for when I get out of the Navy. Oh yeah I will have a BS in Nuclear Engineering Technologies to go with it :p

So any advice would be useful.

I'll trade you my BS in Finance for your BS in Nuclear Engineering :D

Seriously though, this is a great question, since my tech certs consist of absolutely nothing. The community bank that I work for relies on me for pretty much everything remotely related to a PC, but I have ZERO formal training in the field. I'm 100% self taught (for better or worse) and hopefully can expand my horizons at some point when I actually have the time ;)

Finally downloaded a Linux distribution, so I'll probably play with that in the near future. Other than that, I'm just hoping I don't really screw anything up

One of the "hip" ones right now is CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) link
