OT? = VOIP business phone provider recommendations?

We've been using Ring Central for awhile and the random spotty un-duplicateable problems are driving us nuts. Anyone else along those lines
worth looking into? We used 8x8 I think it was awhile ago and something about Ring Central worked better for us but it's been so long I can't recall what it was. Suggestions?

Find one based on Broadsoft, Metaswitch, or Cisco HCS.

Otherwise, they're all pretty much the same (shitty) stuff based on Asterisk.

8x8 seems to be the market leader. I've also used Jive Comm as well as Digium Cloud as well and the clients that use them are all happy so far. What I don't like about 8x8 is that they take a "call us for the best price" and use more people in the sales mix that, to me, causes the price to be higher than it needs to. 8x8 is too expensive for my tastes but they seem to be reliable for the extra cost.

I'm not a fan of ring central though, too many reliability issues that I've noticed in the past.

Does it *have* to be hosted? Is there any reason you can't have an on-prem controller?

We ditched our SMB Cisco gear for a Mitel 5000 about a year and a half ago, love it and never looked back.

I honestly can't really recommend an on-premise solution these days unless your a much larger company of >100 extensions in one main area. It's just making more sense to go hosted/cloud based but that's my opinion.

We are small, ten lines maybe, but we need remote access, smartphone apps, home phones, etc, etc. Boss is pretty turned on for cloud stuff and his attention span is short (and I'm far away) so anything with local hardware isn't likely.
