My wife got this in email.
Anybody know anything??????

Looking for that great deal on a computer or looking to buy a
lot of equipment for your business or for resale? Then take
a look at the Cowan Alexander upcoming auctions calendar.
Attend their sales or bid from the convenience of your home
or business with their webcast auction technology. Take a
look at what's up for auction.

Hadn't heard anything about them or what they're selling. I did spend some time drooling over all the 53" plasma monitors Enron was selling off last month. /me wishes he had some more pocket change!

I saw some of the government sales also and people commenting on the lots so I thought I'd post this in case some areas were close to DC members that something might be got instead of just deleating the email.

The plasma display in the hospital didn't look perfect for me but they were just running plain text and might have had cheap vid cords making a difference. ie one guys bigscreen had cord just like 6 ft lengths and couplers and that probably made the yuck picture.

I've been to a few of their live auctions in the bay area.
Cliff Notes:
1) Deals are to be had IF you buy in quantity. (IE you get a good deal if you buy 20 laptops together)
2) Tack on 10% to the price you pay for the Cowan's fee. (Industry Standard for big auction houses)
3) The auctions are LONG, usually 12 hours long, becuase it takes forever to run all the lots.
4) Its fun to go an watch the dude talk really fast but if you only want one computer don't bother.
