OT: Urgent! :( Windows XP Pro Install Problem :(

I just got my P4 cpu in today and installed it and I'm trying to install Windows XP on my new machine and I have the Asus P4C800-E Deluxe with two WD Raptor drives setup with Raid 0 (striping) and it's telling me I have no hard drives in my system.. So I need to know where to go to get the third party drivers or such.. I just need to know a way to get around this..

When Xp setup first starts it will say at bottom of screen that if you want to install 3rd party Raid Drivers then press a certain key. Do this and tehn load drivers from CD that came with Motherboard. Then Windows should recognize RAID setup 🙂

i think the drivers should be on a floppy (mine were ).......if not you can download them from your hard drive website.........

Some people are running RAID 0 on the Promise controller and others are using the ICH5R for RAID. Once you have the Raid Array setup you can install the OS. On one of the first screens at the bottom you will see press F6 for third party drivers. As already mentioned the drivers should be on the CD unless Asus has posted some new updated on their website.

During the F6 process, I would use a floppy with either the Promise or Intel RAID drivers, depending on which controller is used. If you're going to use the Promise controller, then you won't need the IAA which is specifically designed to support the ICH5R. The IAA is installed AFTER you've finished installing your OS. There is a new version of the IAA that is specifically for Raid and the ICH5R controller. The IAA will not install if you do not have a Raid setup.

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa_raid/raidonly.htm
Intel® Application Accelerator RAID Edition provides support for Serial ATA RAID 0 & RAID 1 on select Intel® 865 and 875 chipset-based PCs with ICH5R.

firstly i am using the Promise RAID controller

secondly.. i have copied the promise raid files from my asus support cd and tried inserting that floppy after i pressed f6 when it asked me to specify the drivers and it still doesn't detect them on the floppy 🙁

You might check your bios version and update to the latest v1011 which has a Update to Promise RAID boot ROM (1.00.0.37). Then download the Promise Array Management Utility Version 3.2.1 Build 13 for Windows NT4.0/2000/XP from the Asus website to setup the array. Then try the download for the Promise FastTrak 378 RAIDDriver V1.00.1.30 for Windows NT4.0/98/ME/2000/XP. The CD drivers may be older than these at the download site.
Download site here.

Check the bios settings and make sure that you are enabled for the controller and that it is not trying to boot to ide 0/1.

i think i found my problem.. im using the intel controller now and am about to copy the files.. they say the promise is kinda odd and performs worse than intel anyway.. i was gonna use to because i orginally planned to have a 0+1 setup..

I went back to the promise controller and sadly to say.. (i really hate to admit it) but im using a teac floppy drive and had my cable reversed 😉 i finally realized that the green led was staying on during boot (got a new case.. wasn't paying attention to the new small and dim led for the floppy) thanks for your help though definitely..

it seems to be working but windows explorer keeps crashing and the error report states its a device driver.. its only when i try to transfer files.. im gonna update my promise driver and i hope that helps..
