Got word yesterday that I might be losing my job next week. Am home for probably less than half of a day after that, and due to the weird weather we are having, a tree falls over and hits the house and two vehicles. :(

<< Better opportunites lies ahead. :) >>

I certainly hope so. Hopefully this is life's way of telling me to get off my butt and get moving, rather than its way of telling me, "O.K., now you are toast!" :(

First, sorry it happened. That really sucks.

But, this is a challenge for you. Three years ago I was a mess and had even called a realtor to setup a meeting to sell my house (bunch of stuff going on and didn't see a way to be able to keep making payments). That very night, I got a call from a guy who offered me some moonlighting programming work for a few months and that was enough to set me up for a while and the way things worked out, I have my company now and a good, long-term contract and even have one employee.

Sooo....hang in there, man, it WILL get better! :)

Best thing to do is take a step back to the right , then come forward with a horrendous upppercut....usually knocks a clear path to a fresh start.

(the above assumes you are right handed)

Well, seeing as how this is not a sanctioned match, I may just opt for kicking life in the groin, if I can get away with it. ;)

That would be my course of action.

Hang in there, my friend. The sun will still come up tomorrow and hopefully light the way to a new path for you to take. :)

How does your resume look? Do you want or will your current boss be a reference?

I was laid off last March, spent 3 months looking, was ready to give up and file. Then ended up with the highest base pay job I have ever had. Even though the commission really really sucks, the higher base is nice.

I really hate that saying, it is always darkest before the dawn. Even if it is sometimes true.

We will always be hear for you if you need us, you know where to come :)

Maybe NOT! There seems to be some hope here. I'll hope for the best. On another note, the last job I lost ended up to be a good thing for me. I found a much better job with better pay and benefits. I hope things work out for you which ever direction they go. As far as the tree thing....that sucks big time, but in the wise words of my father "That's why people buy insurance"!

Hang in there Steve:D

Best of luck to you:)

Steve,

Someone who has given me some great advice / support recently said to me:

'Alls well that ends well', and you can turn it around to mean: 'If it isnt good yet, its not the end'. It will get better :)

Funnily enough, my friend was right, and it does get better! Hang in there! :)

Bad things seem to happen in 3s'. Loss of job, car and damage to your house, that's 3. The good news is that now 3 very good things will happen to you.

Sorry about the double whammy SS. Great words of encouragement and support from everyone here at the AT family. You are in our thoughts and prayers here as well.

I haven't made a post about this and hope you don't mind it in this thread SS but it is along the same lines. My co-worker at the State College was let go last Friday and given no reason. He is sure it was because he told them he would be a hostile witness and he still talked and had contact with me during the whole ordeal and it infuriated them. He also believes they waited 3 months thinking that no one would notice.

Sorry to hear about that SS :(

If it makes you feel any better... I had something similar happen to me:

Wife was 4 months pregnant, we had closed on our brand new house on a Wed night, I took Thurs and Fri off to move in. My boss (who had no guts) calls me on Thurs to tell me I have two weeks left before I was being let go. I was furious.

I told my wife, who I expected to be furious, and she said, good, now you can go get a better job.

That Sunday, a job was in the paper for a Network Admin and two months later I had the job. Better pay, more security and better benefits.

Things that I thought were a total tragedy ended up being a kick in the seat of the pants for me to get moving with some things that I should have done long before......

Good luck and look at the bright side....now you can get a better job, a new roof, and a couple of new cars.... :)
