**OT: Unreal 2: Screenshots!

I recall hearing somewhere that the leaked Doom3 demo hits about 60fps on a Radeon 9700 Pro at 640x480. Somehow, I don't think my old GeForce 2 GTS-V is going to run it too hot. 😛 Good thing Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries is coming out any day now! 😀

WOW - I guess my newly acquired GF3 Ti200 GS won't make the grade for D3 and U2. In UT2k3 my card(OC'd of course😉 ) is just great though😀

/me makes mental note to stash some cash to upgrade to atleast a GF4 or R9700Pro 🙂

It doesn't look all that great to me. Almost looks like a console game.

Of course, I really couldn't care less about the visual appeal of the game if the gameplay is good. I'm hoping it will be.

I've got some money set aside for a new card at the beginning of next year. Looks like I'll need it!

It was a leaked Doom III Alpha test, not a demo, and that is why it runs so awfully. When the final comes out it should run much much better, one of the reasons John Carmack is so upset about the Alpha leaking...

I heard about the D3 but don;t have it yet. I'm sure that guy can't be "upset" about any leak. That D3 will probably break all box office records for a game.

I hope my Ti4200 will still be up to the task when D3 and Unreal2 come out. Maybe I should start saving for a 9700 Pro now. 🙂

Neither a GF4 Ti4600 or Radeon 9700 will stand a chance of running Doom 3 decently. The demo was optimized pretty well for speed, the engine has been worked on for a long time. To actually run Doom 3, wait until Doom 3 comes out (next summer) and buy a top of the line card then. It will be one or two generations past the Radeon 9700.

Yeah that's the way its looking.... funny really considering that by Carmack's own words they were aiming for the game to be 'playable' on a Geforce2 card (and hence GF4 MX cards), but I am starting think that playable will only really be possible on cards in and above the GF3 / Radeon 8500 area.
And we're not even touching on what CPU power might be needed also... the advancement in graphics card power and features means that the CPU will have to still do more to feed it the information it needs.

Sounds like it's going to be an awesome game 😀
