Wednesday night, Oct. 27th
Beginning at 9:14 p.m. EDT (6:14 p.m. PDT), the moon will glide through Earth's shadow for more than three hours. Observers on every continent except Australia can see the event: The pale-white moon will turn pumpkin orange as it plunges into shadow, becoming eerie red during totality.

Space station crew returns to Earth
Leaving behind the International Space Station that served as their orbiting home for the past half-year, the Expedition 9 crew safely journeyed back to Earth on Saturday. Tucked inside the Russian Soyuz TMA-4 capsule, the crew landed in north-central Kazakhstan at 8:36 p.m. EDT (0036 GMT).

...NASA flight engineer Michael Fincke and cosmonaut Yuri Shargin touched down at 8:36 p.m. EDT, three-and-a-half hours after separation from the space station.
