UPDATE:

You guys are the best, I am testing stuff but today was not good for my efforts.

I tested the slot1 and the 2 asus, one I know needs a bios chip, I believe the deluxe, the other gets no video, also the slot 1 no video, I think the processor I am using to test is bad, thats the 2400. I'll test it in a known good one tommorow and let you know, same thing for the asus boards I'll try a known good processor and hopefully at least one will be good.

I finished the computer for the friend and had one to do today for a relative. I got it done and back to him as well.

I am worn out though, Ray I really hope you get to feeling better, bending over the truck the last 2 days was just too much. I still have to change the thermostat, I put in a wrong bolt and have to tear it all back off. It was not a good day for first attempts lol

at least I caught it befopre I started it up and messed up ssomething.

back to the drawing board lol

Today I got the weight thats been dragging me down, lifted off, Selling the opteron and all the help from everyone has so generously given has made me realize how fortunate I/we are.

The weight wasn't the bills so much as that eeveryone was chipping in and I was being selfish. Here I had computers that no one really wants up for sale when I also had some that most folks could enjoy using.

Will, Sid, winr, caferace, you never hesitated to offer great hardware (your best) or kindness (like so many here) I am ashamed it took me so long to step up to your level.

Jim, Byran, Sid, Adam, I owe you all a deep debt of gratitude.

Peter, Christian, Johan, winr and Ray you haveall brought me so many smiles the last few days

Will and Jim I appreciate all you have done both on the site and on and off the team, you set the bar as high as it can go, for everything I thank you.

Geoff you didn't have to buy back the router or pay me twice, I owe you all dearly for being the greatest teammates a guy could ever hope to have.

FullmetalChocobo I thank you for the kind words and am glad to call you a teammate.

Minendo, you have made me realize a lot as well, I hope the parts work well for you, and I thank you for offering so much help, it meant more than you know.

BadThad,MDE, Gleem, mondobyte I thank you all as well, you have always been high on my list of friends.

rlyely, sisq0kidd, Ken6PPC, nbarb99, savageice9, cougar78 Thank you all for all the bumps

jonb, thank you for the ability to start breathing a little easier again. I hope you enjoy the opteron

as for the opteron:

I thought I would hate selling it, I was being selfish, but I have no regrets as the weight I have been carrying is much lighter tonight. It actually felt good to let it go, so many have given to help us It was killing me to see nothing sell. Will gave up over 315+ to help me, sid gave up a gig of ram, so many offered so much, it was killing my heart to hold onto both of the servers. and feel like I was cheating the team.

You all have been so generous, it was the fairest thing I could think of.

I am sorry I didn't sell it earlier though.

opteron 165
sata2 mobo
9550 video card
1 gb pqi turbo ram
80gb hdd
winfast 2000 deluxe tv tuner

pending to jonb
Update:
Sold to jonb

I will and peter if you want the 2400 in that system I can trade it out and sell you the processor.

Over the next 3 days I aam going to unbox the motherbards I have and the cpus to test them, as well as cdroms, dvd drives, floppy drives, video cards, etc...

I am going to go through the "boxes of parts" tommorow and see what is there, get it tested and list it here when thats done.

Mike, leave the processor in the comp - you know: "Don't fix what ain't broken" ...
You have a working computer which you need to sell and which brings you 180$, so just leave it in ... :).
Please do not provoke Murphy's law! ;)

I can wait ---

I wish the AIW cards worked as a TV tuner in XP MCE, otherwise I'd be all over the AIW Radeon 8500.

Great looking stuff! Just found out that my dog needs some surgery to examine/remove a growth near his spleen... I'm not a happy camper at the moment... I'd miss him terribly if anything happened to him... he's only 4... :( :brokenheart:

Those two sticks would make that 3.2 Prescott do what it is supposed to do - dual channel

Thank you Sid, I thought you were doing more to try and help, I was trying to say that you had done more than enough. you guys ( Adam-Slatzman, Jim-Freewolf, Byran-BofBnt, Sid-Insidious ) paying for the server was much more than I expected, I cannot thank all of you enough.

As far as more help needed , that is not necessary, unless you want a system or parts lol

I should have jumped on that myself. Just had a 256M stick of RAM die in my work PC. :( Came in this morning, wouldn't boot up, or would boot part way then reboot. But maybe I'll be able to get a 512M replacement for it. :)

It let off quite a bit Thanks, Had to change the thermostat on the truck today and mow the grass but so far its sore but not as bad as the last 3 days.

Yeah, it is warmer - in the 15 - 20 degrees C. Only patches of snow left ... where all have piled up the snow removed from the drive ways and where the snow - just some 3 weeks ago was more than 8 feet deep. (petrus shudders at the memory, feels his back).

How is the testing of the components doing, Mike? ;)
