Having been the purveyor of some of the more somber threads around these parts lately, it occurred to me that I for one, would love to hear about some of the really neat things going on in my extended family's lives.

So...

Here's the official "Good News" thread.

Tell us about something upbeat eh?

Me and my first girlfriend are having our 1 month anniversary on Friday. :) (1 month is a meaningful time, seeing as Im 14...)

And hopefully tomorrow, I will Paypal Geoff the money for a shiny 2100+ system to use for DC!

I've been busy as ever, but things are slowing down now that I'm wrapping up my summer projects*. My dog won 1st place in a county dog obedience show (I got "best handler" as well). The new Athlon 64 X2 system that I got a few weeks ago is running splendidly and helping not an insignificant amount with my F@H score. Tomorrow, I will be acting as technical crew during the setup of a float of an organization that I am in, and then I'll be photographing the parade for the rest of the morning, and then hopefully the fireworks later that night. I'm sure I could find a few things to complain about, but I try to focus on the positives. :D

Have a great 4th of July, whether you celebrate it or not! :wine:  :p

*To quote Jim Gaffagin: "I am originally from Indiana ... most of you are thinking "Indiana / mafia," but the fact of the matter is, where I grew up there was something very similar to the mafia - 4-H"

I live in safety, health, freedom and comfort, in a world where many people don't. So that's something I should be appreciative about every day.

Other than that, I saw my mom & dad the other day and they were looking healthy and happy. Mom was chattering away at top speed as usual, and zooming around the house, and Dad was relaxing on the patio enjoying a beautiful summer afternoon. We're going on a driving vacation to Yellowstone Park in a couple months with my next-older sister and two of my nephews and one niece, should be fun :)

edit: email from older nephew (7), just for grins...
Subject: Wiener-mobile

Hi! I heard of this contest that if you won you could win what they called a wiener-mobile. It just happened that we went to a grocery store and they had the wiener-mobile parked near the entrance. It looked like a big hotdog in a bun. On the inside there were comfortable chairs with hotdogs on them, and the rug looked like it had ketchup and mustard all over. And they had this weird shaped door. On a little board it told how many hotdogs High, Wide, and Long. It even told how many hotdogs it weighed!

Bye!

I had an interesting first time experience: my 17 year old son brought a girl home to meet the family and have dinner.

All of a sudden I feel OLD

Edit: LOL, my wife pulled out the baby pictures :D
I had to restrain her several times from doing/saying other things

I just had 3 days off!!! :D

If you don't think that is significant, consider that I worked 84 hours per week for 6 weeks and had 4 days off in the same 7 week span! :Q

Cheers to you and yours around the world and happy USA BDay to the USA folks! :D

The wife and I will be celebrating our 24th on the 25th of July. :)

I recently decided to quit the part-time 2nd job I was doing, hoping to build my consulting work up to replace the income, but didn't have anything definite to replace the income.

I quit on a Friday night, and on Tuesday a new client asked me to come out on a regular weekly basis. And an existing client also wanted me to come out on a regular basis as well, so that income has been replaced. August will be tight, but once the wife's income picks up in Sept. we will be ok. :D

Great thread DanC! :D

Plus I have more time to spend with the family/friends/hobbies. :D

I've lost 35lbs. since mid-January and I'm reaching my goal of getting out and getting more exercise this year! It's affecting my DC habit but it's better for me personally and I should be back around here in November with a smaller waist and a better attitude on life :)

Nice, I am on a diet as well and am getting around better but so far no loss but lots of sweating lol

I am now able to almost keep up with the chores. Without hurting everyday as bad.

Ever since I was a kid my grandparents took me to Santa Cruz for a week every year. So now I get to take my kids every year and yesterday was the first year that both my daughters were able to go on the log ride with me. Couple more years and we will all get to ride the dipper together! Fun times man!

Started a new job today. Still contracting but it should go permanent in 2 months.

Dream job, similar to when I had Cingular job and lost it due to a very bad time many would remember. Pay is highest ever for me too.
