Thanks mechBgon for your PC building guide! It helped me a lot in my first build today. It went flawlessly aside from some minor troubles because of stupidity, seriously I can't count how many times I cut my index finger on my left hand. :p Thanks for a great guide!

There's nothing wrong with showing gratitude publicly. Especially in this case, mech put a lot of work into that guide.

I'm sure many people have used it, so I kind of speak for all of them. Sorry. :p

Yep, Private message. But this thread is ok.

I am a bit of a PC Building and troubleshooting guru myself. But I find it handy as a refrence when helping others, I just give them mech's link and they tell me it works well for them.

Add Zebo to that. His A64 memory guide has saved people alot of money, for minimal performance loss.

Wait, here we go, AnandTech Moderator's got me all taken care of: snacks!

Hmm, what else does she use that leash for... :Q

edit: seriously, glad the guide was useful. Next time I update the first page, I will include Band-Aids in the tools/equipment list :D

Doh now I have probs. >< It's shutting down on it's own when I play WC3. Core Center is going bonkers when I have it open but reports low temps. What is going on?

What are the full specs including brand & model of PSU, and what is Core Center indicating as a problem? CPU fan is running? Got the automatic CoreCell overclocking disabled?

It seems fixed now. I uninstalled Core Center and now it doesn't crash anymore.

Yeah great guide! I haven't built a computer yet but I've used the guide when applying thermal paste to two different processors.

Yep. I've referred riends to Mech's guide before; it's well written. He's also one who focuses on the problem\solution and responds with just the facts. No fluff or attitude.
