I have a problem ... I have a HP A720N .. the HD says it is a 250GB the BOIS set-up says it is a 250GB HD ... but after formatting it ... I get 131,000 .... Looks more like a 160 than a 250 .... any ideas ...

M<ark...

I would have placed this in another area but ... you folks have always given me the most honest advice ... thanks in advance .

Doc give this a try, worked for me. Don't worry if you've got a other hd brand, download and install, it only adds a key to the registry.

And here's something else.

This could be relevant...

Seems amdxborg beat me to it, with what could be a solution, not just info... I for one have downloaded now :)

I'm expecting a 200GB drive one of the coming days.

This is a relatively NEW machine ... It came with a 200GB HD which crashed and got replaced with the 250 GB ... the bios says it is a 250 HD ....

But if you still thinks it will do the trick ... I will try ...

Did you go into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management.
to format it?
And if so do you have more than one Partition on it?

So you formatted during the install of windows?
What info does Disk management tells you about the drive and partitions on it?
