Know it belongs in tech support, but I posted it there an noone answered. Would appreciate all the help I can get..

Lately my modem has been malfunctioning as frequently as once a day.
I am on windows 2k sp2 using a 3com faxmodem that is only like a year old.

The error message is:

Unhandled exception in 3cmlink.exe (kernel32.dll) :x000000005: Access Violation

Whenever I debug it afterwards I get:

No matching symbolic information found

Is my modem dieing or do I need to reinstall/update the drivers?

Not yet, will do that probably later. It's kind of weird because I downloaded 3com's modem finder to check to see if mine was v.92 compatible and it said I didn't have any 3com modems installed. This is why I am thinking hardware...

<BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px">Thats one of the first rules of diagnosing problems with your pc. You always re-install the drivers before looking elsewhere for help. If that doesn't work then you start asking for help. Sorry if I come off as a know it all as I really do not mean to but i'm just telling you what you will always hear first when asking about a problem with your hardware. Always check the drivers first, because 9 times out of 10 they are the culprit.

BTW, if re-installing the drivers doesn't work then try re-installing the modem itself because it sounds like it might not be seated properly.
