I just received this:

You, or the person at this address (68.232.35.27), has requested to send
your Team AnandTech password.
Nickname: -> <-,
Password: -> <-
To Edit your personal page, login with your nickname and password on this
page: http://www.teamanandtech.com/members/login.asp
or simply follow this link:
<deleted>

WTF is going on??

edit: Tracing route to 68-232-35-27.pittpa.adelphia.net [68.232.35.27]

EDIT:

From lobadobadingdong:

I think I found the ISP of they guy/girl doing this, and sent a request for it to be investigated, if anyone else has tried looking up the ip address of the requester and came to the same conclusion, it might be good for you to contact adelphia.net as well through thier internet abuse form.

edit: yes this is a repost, but I've found a form that we might be able to get this guy kicked from his ISP, and perhaps that will be enough for him to leave the TA server alone.

BTW, let's try and keep this in one thread. There are at least 4 active threads on this subject right now and we're probably ticking off a few people (and, <gasp>, don't want to tick off a mod! :) )

It's either a communist conspiracy... or someone clicked the wrong link on the team website. ;)

Calm down there a bit, conjur.;) All the passwords are still safe, it's just when someone ends up on the link for a password recovery, it triggers the email. We don't have the best system in the world to prevent false alarms, so crawlers and what-not have set off the recovery emails before. Just delete it, and don't worry about it.

It appears we have a "cute prankster" running the list. As ViRGE said, don't worry ... be happy! :D

And don't get confused about your password. The password to the www.teamanandtech.com site is different than your password to the AnandTech Forums. ;)

it's a randomly generated password that can't be changed (IIRC)

Like smokeball said, it's only for teamanandtech.com, which you probably registered for at some time.

I'm gonna PM this thread to the Mods, see if they would be able to check the IP address (68.232.35.27) and see if it's someone on the forums.

I PMed the Mods just after I posted my message, their reply is as follows:

We have no records of that IP address posting on the site.

Mod

Please don't PM/email them any more, as we don't want to annoy them any more :)

I'm not surprised. Like I said, it's probably just some sort of crawler, probably looking for email addresses(which aren't visable either).
