Their website was on-line yesterday, but now you can't access it, and I dialed the number listed in the Web yellow pages and get a number dissconnected recording.

This was a pretty good place to buy parts and peices for your comp.

I will be upset if they have gone TU. They shipped to APO addresses for reasonable prices.

I'm in Alaska and it's hard to find places willing to ship via USPS which they would do. Who wants to pay $23 shipping UPS for a coulple of 80mm case fans?

You could order from Canada, it's closer and they live in igloos too so they can relate!

j/k, I'm Canadian too.

I just placed a small order today. For a minute I couldn't get in, then voila... One of my favorite online places to shop.

I like ordering from them, too. Well, when they actually have things in-stock, that is. Seems like 1/2 their product line is continually "Out of stock".

Is this just a coincident?

Today I received an e-mail asking me to "Please Confirm Your Subscription to SVC Hot Deals"

It's html sourced and just opening it draws images from www.email-publisher.com, thus letting them know it was read (web logs). The return e-mail address is svc@topica.email-publisher.com, not any of the domains that I am aware of SVC owning. This could be a service that SVC is using... but then again I find it very spammish.

I have forwarded it to webmaster@svc.com asking them, but WTH !!!!

I got that email too. I thought they were just trying to weed out dead email addresses.

I never reply to that type of email address unless it's completely linked to the business in question. Anything else tells me it might be spam resulting in my email address getting added to all current junk email lists. If it is legit, then SVC lost a little of my respect in not handling this themselves, as the email reaks of every little thing we've been warned about concerning spam.

<edit> as for weeding out dead email addresses, I would think non-deliverables would let them do that... just send out a Hot Deal email</edit>

I also got that email, but I just deleted it because it wasn't actually from SVC. Worst case scenario, they drop me from their mailing list, I'll go to the website and sign up again, or they'll sign me up automatically next time I order from them.

Their service is horrible...I ordered something from them and it took over two weeks to arrive...is this par for the course when dealing with them or just an isolated incident? I didn't order a back ordered item either...

I've placed a few orders this month and everything arrived intact and on time.

isolated incident. when did they ship the item relative to when you obtained it?

i have obtained items "late" but that's just me picking things up from the post office... (priority mail is more accessible to me here)

I've done quite a few small orders with them (mostly shipped cheap via first class mail) - shipped promptly and delivered whenever the post awful gets around to it. I've found that using svcompucycle.com works all the time to get to their site, while using svc.com doesn't.

They shipped it 4 days after I ordered it. I believe I ordered it on 1/21 and they shipped it 1/25. I received it on or around 2/7. It was shipped USPS and came directly to my house so who the hell knows...

Manzelle, that is uncharacteristic. Now, looking at your dates and assuming this year, 1/25 was a Sunday, so they probably didn't ship out that day. Now, say you ordered on a Thursday evening. They would not have gotten your order until the next day. If they shipped it by the next business day after they received the order, it would have been Monday. Hence, 4 days. That is not unreasonable. Most of the 2 weeks was wasted with the postal service. They use Priority Mail which is inexpensive and fast, but it isn't guaranteed to get there by a certain time. Priority Mail usually takes 2-4 days.

Personally I've usually gotten stuff from them within a week (to Southern California).

I was there last friday afternoon at the will-call pickup and I saw NO indications that they were closing up but more of the opposite. Their new location is approximately eight times bigger than their old place...
