Edit..
Dang, I was sure I posted this in Tech Support, must be time fur bed. Sorry guys..

Help!
I am running win98se and 2k duel boot. I have a new modem, its a
zoom v92 external. Previously I had two other modems installed,
one 33.6k in a isa slot that installed to com2, and a Archtek 56k pci
that used com3 in 2k, and com4 in 98. I uninstalled both of these, and when the 33.6 went it took the com2 port with it in 2k. I need this port to run the Zoom.
Trying to reinstall the com2 port results in it installing as com3. I had noticed through all the messing around that there was a "hidden" com2 in the add/remove hardware, removing this did not help. I have tried everything, including changing irq's and uninstalling all com and lpt and floppy drives, all of which got bumped around during the many adjustments and uninstalls I have made to try and get com2 back. After removing all com ports, upon reboot 2k would reinstall the ports, one would be a standard com
port and the other would install as some other kind of serial device, ix or something, however it flashes by fast enough that I can't read it. I'm fairly new to 2k, If someone could point me in the right direction as to what I should "rip out" next to free up the com2 slot
I would sure appreciate it. I've been messing with this for 12 hours now, and am getting close to losing it. I didn't have the same problem with 98, when I removed the modem there the com2 stayed behind, as both the 33.6 and 56k Archtek were installed in that OS as well. On another note, I may be wasting my time with this Zoom, the stupid thing will only connect at 3.7k, and the old
Archtek outdoes it by 30%, but I ordered the damn thing and am stuck with it, and will make it work eventually I hope. Have tried different init strings and changed any setting that can be changed, still only 3.7k. I have downloaded latest drivers and flashes, no change. Not compatible with my ISPs modems? Anyone wanna
buy a new Zoom V92-3049L?? :) The old Archtek will hook up at 4.9 and dld at a steady 5.5 in 2k, but if I download and upload at the same time my connection likes to drop in 2k. In 98 it will only hook up at 4.8, and I have to make some line noise to get it to retrain
down to 4.4 to realize full 5.5 downloads. Ahh, the joys of analog and copper wire. :(

Thanks in advance for possibly helping me regain my sanity.

Note..
When I shove the old 33.6 back in, my com2 reappears. The 33.6 is not plug n' play, so it doesn't need to be installed to make com2 show up, just shoved in the slot.
