Replied. They suck. Ooh, I'm not going to tell you because you didn't talk about motherboards.

No wonder I don't ever go there. If I want to know how to do something, I usually start with the good folks here! :D

I remember when I first started posting at anandtech, I was very discouraged from asking questions.

Generally I would be greeted with cynical answers or people just neffing my threads to death. Usually if I had a question, I would ask my friend to post it because he had a high postcount and they would answer him :(

Same here, the DC forum is more helpful to me when I need help!

I remember getting put down in CPU/Overclocking for being misinformed about something, soon after I joined the Forums. Ironically enough, the person who did it is now on the DC team, so I'm not going to name names, but three years later, I still haven't forgotten. :p

Ok, I just posted this over there. Now it's probably going to get hot :| in there.
I thought it was about time I said what I really thought:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks guys, sorry for the petulant response.

BTW, there is a motherboard forum here - if I had questions about it I would go there.

I have no questions about my motherboard, have installed others exactly like this one and have read not only all the manuals but also all the other information on the manufacturers site and in forums dedicated to this particular motherboard.

I came here simply asking for information about the cpu. This is the CPU/PROCESSORS AND OVERCLOCKING forum.
I'm in the right place, and I think instead of giving up on this forum and letting the little snots have it we should fight for it and take it back from them.

This place is getting a reputation and it isn't good. Many people come to the DC forum and ask their CPU / OC questions there instead of here. They mention that they came here first and were put down, so they come to DC. We are glad to help them when they do, whether or not they want to join up on one of the AnandTech DC TeAms.

Why?

It's simple, read the posts above by Soulkeeper and pillage2001. There are many here who are even worse.

When someone comes here asking genuine questions the least you can do is be civil.

Don't mess up their threads if you just want to ridicule someone.
Take that over to OT, that is where it belongs according to what I've seen when I have browsed over there.

Maybe it's acceptable here in CPU / OC now to treat people disrespectfully when they have a question.
If so it's not the forum I have been used to in the past, something has changed and that for the worse.

Convince me I am wrong.

For now, the truly helpful people are located in DC and some of the other forums. They spend their time there because they are appreciated. I see Mech post here helpfully still, maybe because he has more stamina than the rest of us.

The other day some guy posted here about wanting to upgrade his BX system and run a faster P3 cpu.
He was ridiculed about it, "why would he want to run such an old cpu?".
I posted here about being able to get a 240 mhz OC on a P3 1000 and was greeted with much the same kind of comment:
"wow, such an old cpu"
Well it was a brand new cpu - to me. Brand new retail iNtel cpu I had just ordered and installed.

It's those who feel the need to put others down when they feel they have accomplished something that are the true nOOb's.
Like your mother should have told you (probably not so long ago): "If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all".

CPU / OC does not get the benefit of the experience of the best members of AnandTech because of people like you guys.
They hang out in DC and some of the other forums.

You guys need to grow the hell-up, don't put people down and try to be a little helpful when it's clear that you actually have something constructive to add to the conversation. Otherwise shut up and don't clutter other peoples threads.

"sometimes i wonder how these n00bs get like 3 thousand posts and still not know anything about nothing
they must spend their afternoons in the off topic section talking about iraq or cars or something
bawhahaha

but anyways wiz, i originally asked about the motherboard becase it would affect the way i would answer your question
there are many ways to work the bridge
there are some good sites too but i ain't gonna give them to you cause yur too stuck up and rude to people :)
thank you. "

I've always enjoyed reading Mech's posts. He's a credit to AnandTech forums and to TA.
