OT: Should all the Mods be replaced with sensible DC members?

I have no idea what the heck you are talking about. 😛

But then, I don't venture out of here much at all.

And as long as they leave DC alone (and we remain reasonable), what do I care. 😛 😉

🙂

You can call me a nef. It's just I see lots of rules that one stood firm crumbling to the ground. And sometimes threads that should be locked don't get locked for days.

my thoughts exactly. you take your maturity level into your own hands when you visit other sections of Anandtech and as long as you know that and stay where people are civil then it doesnt matter. i am a mod at a gaming forum and trust me, the mods here do a fantastic job considering the amount of members present! i hope they keep up the great work!

The mods in the DC forum are doing great, that is, they don't have to do anything at all! 🙂
It's been a very very long time that a thread has been closed or cleaned because of members saying things which aren't allowed.. Only nef threads are being closed, after a while 😉

So if you are talking about the mods in the DC forum, you should give a few examples of where they 'slipt', because I don't recall anything..
And most people here, including myself don't go beyond the DC forum, so we really don't know how the mods are doing there.

But with this huge amount of forum mebers, it's obvious that not all threads can be checked and handled according to the forum rules..

How many mods?...

I'd bet that they are very busy trying to stop all the madness, and trying to nip things as soon as it looks like things will get out of hand.It sounds more like they are undermanned.

80731 members? I seem to recall that number being above 100K before the upgrade? Did some accounts get deleted, or what happened? Did anybody hear? I've been intending to ask in FI, but fear the repost nazis, because someone probably asked before in a non-appropriately titled thread so I missed it.

The mods have been doing ok in here lately, and since I don't venture out of here much I wouldn't know how the other sections are doing. P&N, the last time I visited, was still a hell hole of mudslinging and insults and BS. So much for the "no attacks on ones fellow members"... (conspiracy theory alert) I think the mods probably enjoy the hurling of insults themselves, while in their alter egos, so that's why nothing is done to stop it - aside from the pure insanity of the number of threads there that would hit /dev/null if the rules were enforced. Sorry, just ranting now, but I really don't care what they do there, as I have no desire to visit that forum. 😉

jliechty, I forgot what the exact criteria was, but accounts that they knew where duplicates (same member, more than one account) and those that were inactive for a certain period of time were axed.

holy crap that's a lot of accounts! Hmm, well, maybe the username I always wanted has become available... will have to check. 😛

Not sure that's even an option... what are we gonna do, fire them? Not like we own these forums.

They're doing fine by me. Of course, I don't spend the majority of my waking hours on the forums, either.

Except for when one accused me of being a criminal for helping out Canadian traders, I've had no problems with the mods... they've been responsive to my questions/requests/etc...
