Did a little catch and release Sunday on the Kenai River 5lb Rainbow, 4 lb DollyVarden, and some brilliant red salmon.
Tonight, I'm above the Artic Circle, getting a chance to see the Northern Lights in person.
Back to Anchorage in the morning.

Pretty damn close to me. I'm here in Nome, AK :D
Enjoy the lights. They are not that common in Anchorage. Further up north we see them all the time though.

If anyone happens to be driving Highway 9 between Seward and Anchorage, slow down around Mile 28 1/2 and keep an eye out for the house where I grew up 'til I was 12: photo :) It is, or was, across the highway from a little pond, and from the front windows you can see the Alaska Railroad railbed, with Lower Trail Lake beyond that. The little town of Moose Pass is a half-mile further from Seward and that's where I went to school.

I have such fond memories of my time in Alaska... where else do the schoolbus drivers nonchalantly whip a brodie to turn the bus around on snow? ;)

mechBgon - I turned south on hwy 1 at the intersection with 9, so I was just a few miles from there. How did I get here - did I say work !!!!
I have to go visit potential customers in AK to answer all the technical questions, so I flew Tulsa to Chicago to Anchorage. Fun part about being an engineer supporting the sales department is all the travel. I am currently scheduled to be on the road until mid November. I do get home Friday night at 10pm, since my 19 yr anniversary is Saturday. I fly back out Tuesday.

Coming up are Wisconsin, IL, MN, Kansas City, Iowa and back to Alaska - returning home on Halloween.

Thats . I just returned from an Anchorage trip. I rented a car from National Car Rental and went down to Seward to see my daughter for her birthday. While I was at a bar in Seward some stranger walked in offering $250 for a car ride. I told him I'm game but am in no condition to drive... Somehow I wound up in Fairbanks with a lot of fireworks from Gorilla Fireworks  and only enough money for gas on the way back. Not even enough for food :|
Let me tell you, the drive back hung over was not cool in the slightest.
