No warning was the worst part. No one had a chance to do anytime. At least with Hurricanes and the like we have some warning so we can try to get to safety.Think how many lives would have been saved if they had time to get out or at least to a higher location.

It's just so hard to imagine the REAL total damage and loss of life. Even after looking at the pictures, you know it's bad, but to really understand it, I think you would have to be there.

if any of you are watchers of the discovery channel, they are having a lot of shows lately on tsunamis, their history and the science of their creation. quite fascinating and very informative if you would like to know more about these types of disasters.

I've been following the news on MSNBC. Can't do video....on Dial-up.......but, been looking at the photos and Satellite pics. One of my favorite shows on TV, is Extreme makeover "Home Edition" ABC TV on Sundays.

The first thing I thought of, just after this diaster was ....if they can build the kind of homes they do in a week for the show.........imagine the homes that could be built in a month in these areas with the same technology that goes into that show. I have worked construction...from the bottom up. It's all a matter of planning and co-ordination. I would be willing to go and work to help rebuild their homes. The USA is pledging all this aid......how much is really aid and how much goes to pay support for those that volunteer?

The one thing that really erks me, we have no problem opening our wallets.......but, we are last to to get our hands dirty. Is it really beneith us to pick up other peoples trash...

I say "We are a nation of the world...We are a nation built from the World!
So.................... why do we not return to our roots?

I prepose that , since there is so much unemployment with in the US, We organize a reconstruction effort,

Built with unemployed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need some feed back here.

I believe it. The people that did our roof said they had enough work to keep them busy for threee years. They moved their whole company over here from Texas.

I put together a powerpoint slideshow last night with tsunami pics for today's sevice. Talk about a sombering thing to do. Some pictures were far too graphic to use.

It is mind numbing. It is unbelievable. It is heartbreaking. :brokenheart:

I saw mass graves of children, hundreds of pyres burning (bodies being burnt as part of their religious rites) bloated bodies floating in water 3 days aftewards, that the cleanup crews couldn't even get to yet.

I didn't sleep well last night. I'm sure because of the pictures I saw. It made it all more real and personal.

It's going to take a lot of money, a LOT of time (years), and a LOT of people helping.

Habitat for Humanity is going in to help, and they are going to need all the help (monetary and physical labor) that they can.

There are many, many ways to help and contribute. If we all do what we can with what we have, it will go along way.

Another good place to view pics and info:
