OT: Returning Stuff to Newegg

Since this is the forum for buying stuff online, I figured this would be my best bet.

I ordred a CPU and vid card from Newegg. However, I would like to return them for a diff CPU...the vid card I will get elsewhere. I will be receiving the items in the middle of this week.

Newegg says that they charge a 15% restock on returns...the CPU isn't really a return, I just want to exchange it for a faster one...I guess the vid card will be a return, however.

So, will they charge the 15% restock? Has anyone had experience with this? Since I am without a CPU and vid card, I would like to place my "replacement" order on Monday, however, I will not receive my items until later, and they probably won't receive my items until next Monday.

OT: Returning Stuff to Newegg

No this is the hot deals forum, not the OT forum ;)

...the CPU isn't really a return
Hmm dunno bout that, never returned anything to them that wasn't DOA.
I would charge you a restocking fee, I think newegg will too. Prices tend to fluctuate too much on hardware,
it's not their fault that you bought something you didn't really need or that would suit those needs.
I would call them, but you have no one to blame but yourself, it's not bestbuy or compusa, these are very slim margins that change on a daily basis.
Do more research or thinking before your next hardware purchase, it may just save you that 15%.
;)

No this is the hot deals forum , this is not specifically targeting online merchants selling direct.
There are many good deals for B&M products here.

I don't understand why you can't just call them, tell them what you told us, and see what they say.

Your best bet would be to resell or trade in and upgrade IMO. Newegg views exchanges under the same return (restocking fee) policy. You will get charged 15%. I made the mistake of accidently ordering 2 cases a couple weeks ago and they wanted to charge me restocking fees and not refund my shipping charges if I were to return it....oh well, that's what fleabay and the for sale/trade forums are for. Think a little harder next time before you make a purchase.

Yes, this goes to OT but while I'm here...

I've returned a refurb item for the same item, but the retail version, and they didn't charge me a restocking fee. Probably because they made $40 more bucks off me. But shipping was my responsibility. So, ask for an RMA # (either through the Web or by phone), and hopefully you get a nice CSR that won't charge you the 15% restocking.

Let UPS or FedEx (can't remember who newegg uses) know that you want the shipment "returned to sender". Newegg will refund you full price. Call Newegg to verify, as I've done this a few times in the past. Just let Newegg know you changed your mind and it still hasn't been delivered. They'll most likely tell you to just refuse the package.

C'mon guys, this is not fair to newegg. That brings the cost upon other buyers or have you not figured that out yet?

Call them and ask them what they recommend.
If an item is DOA then that's one thing, something perfectly working and stating it's DOA is not COOL.
Anyone who belives in this
