If the mobo didn't get crunched, it looks like a new case and cdrom might do it for him--don't know about the hd, hard to tell from the pics. Did he use it as a stepladder or throw it out the window??

I had to share this with everyone. Unfortunately my sarcasm never comes across right in text. I feel so bad for this guy. He had it in the back of his truck and forgot to put the tailgate up, he then hit a pretty big bump and pow! Dumped it right there in the road. I will try and fire it up tonight. I am assuming that the board, cpu, ram, video card and modem will still work. A little leery about the hard drives. This is the first client that brought me a crashed windows system that was truly crashed! :D

Hehe... I looked at your pics before reading your reply. I was gonna respond and ask why your client threw the PC off an overpass ramp but I was kidding. I guess I wasn't that far off! :Q

Good luck!

I too looked at the pictures first, and I was showing them to MrFluffy, and told him it looked like it fell off a truck. Mainly due to the pic showing the scratches on the side, reminded me of when a horn cabinet from an Altec Lansing speaker system fell off a truck after a gig. It had a corner scrunched and scratches very similar. :Q

If the hard drives pass checkdsk, scandisk tests, and seem to work ok, they should be fine, they are fairly durable these days. Hard drives have come a long way since you had to be sure to use the "park" utility before moving them. ;)

Keep us posted on what is fried and what works! :)

I think Ray is right. Isn't there somewhere on the HDD stats that will show what G forces that they can handle when they are off? If I remember right they are perty high. I am guessing that it took maybe one or two hops at the most with the crumple zone impact that it shows. The worse damage is the sliding it did to come to a stop.

Good luck and let us know how this all turns out.

Well waddya know. The damn thing fires up! Wow. Both Hard drives are spining away. So he may of gotten lucky! The only issues with the mobo is that the posts where the power switch and stuff plus into got bent, but should be able to bend back rather easily. So a new case and CDrom and he should be good to go. Although I will take the HS off to make sure there are no cracks when I get back from San Diego on Monday.

Cheers all!
